TITLE: We Only Kiss at Christmas
SERIES: Christmas Collection #2
AUTHOR: Con Riley
PUBLISHER: Figment Ink
LENGTH: 230 Pages
RELEASE DATE: November 15, 2023
BLURB:
All Sebastian Street wants for Christmas is justice. Oh, and some privacy to kiss his flatmate.
Heat shouldn’t sizzle between best friends like it does between me and Patrick. He’s my flatmate, not my boyfriend, a gym-bro powered by peace, love, and understanding. In comparison, I’m a yappy terrier fuelled by rage and sugary baked goods.
Expect a third flatmate to understand our opposites-attract dynamic?
No.
This could be our last December together. Our first alone in this flat.
I can’t share it. Or Patrick.
Not when we only kiss at Christmas.
(It’s too bad no one told Lito Dixon.)
REVIEW:
*Squee* This book! It’s simply F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S., a gorgeous Christmas gift from Con to her devoted fans. She dished up just the right amount of Patrick and Sebastian’s relationship dynamic and their super-glue bond in last year’s His Last Christmas in London that we’ve been jonesing for this book a year in advance. That says something about Con’s outstanding writing and development of side characters
Pat and Seb are a very special, very passionate couple. I think the word “adorable” was created just for them. If ever there was an inevitable couple – soul mates if that’s a thing – it’s these two. They compliment each other so well. I feel lucky to have been invited to travel along with these men on their journey from best friends to lovers, gradually learning more about their histories and struggles.
Seb, in particular, has a sad and complicated past, while zen-like Pat faces uncertainty in the future as he fights his way through school, not knowing if he’ll be able to remain in London with Seb. Shaped by his past, poor Seb is so afraid of ruining their friendship and losing Pat that he institutes a rule that they can only kiss at Christmastime. Despite the men already being flatmates and best friends, it’s still a slow burn until they become intimate. I love that, unlike in most books, they express how much they love each other before making it to bed. The intimate scenes were so much more than just sex.
It was a treat to be able to revisit grandfatherly Arthur, delightful Jack (guess who’s in next year’s Christmas book!), Ian, Guy, and Rex. I also really loved Pat’s family. Perfection! His brothers!!!!! I would love to see them again.
With every new romance Con Riley releases, it seems all I do is gush over her lovely characters and thoroughly engaging love stories (and always the perfect, beautiful cover models). The gushing is so well deserved. This one is no different. Treat yourself to this gem this holiday season.
*By the way, Mariah Carey makes 3.8 million dollars a YEAR just in royalties from All I Want for Christmas is You.*
