REVIEW:
Back for another fantastic performance at Rocktoberfest 2023.
Rogan’s birth defect has limited the young man’s pursuits of his passions. Having been born with a cleft lip and palate and the deformities that result from the surgery, he is always self-conscious of how his upper lip looks. With his scars he knows he can never have the two things he longs for…a career in music and his boss, the famous lead man of the highly successful rock group Grambo. So Ro pursued a career in elementary education and became to private teacher for Lor’s daughter Amy. Now he only sings for the precocious 6 year old. But a chance set of mishaps during Lor’s month long break from the concert series has left Ro injured and Lor caring for the young man than he has grown feelings for. But can a successful rock star and a self-conscious younger man make a go of it in the rock world?
I am loving my time at Rocktoberfest this year. So many wonderful bands and their back stories. Rogan and Lorcan’s story is as especially sweet as the yummy hot chocolate treat that Ro mixes up. I grew up with a close classmate that was born with a cleft palate and lip. 70 years ago the level of repair was much more noticeable than with modern plastic surgery techniques. I know this birth defect is not uncommon and many notable celebrities were born with the same condition including Peyton Manning and Cheech Marin. But I also understand Rogan’s thoughts. Any condition or injury that leaves a noticeable scar can leave you feeling like it stands out like a beacon. But in actuality they can be more noticeable to yourself than to others.
I was appalled that the medical team had the oversight to not do a better after care for poor Ro after his accident and resulting injuries. I know he didn’t want to spend the night in the hospital but there should have been a much sooner follow-up visit if that was the case. That was pure negligence on their part and Ro suffered the consequences of their incompetence. I loved that Ro’s mom missed nothing when she finally saw her boy. And I hope that we have seen the last of that weasel Michael but fear that might not be the case. He is an abuser and a user. And I still think there is a reason we don’t know yet why he was pushing them to do more shows.
I am really hoping that we are going to get more of the other band member’s stories. I want to know what’s up with Finley and his attraction to Dale, their head roadie turned manager. I also need Tiberius story. Is his arm really okay and does he wish to settle down or keep playing the field. With all the men reaching towards forty desires change and someone special starts to hold its appeal. It did for Lor and I hope it dies for his bandmates as well.
