REVIEW:
Blue Sky Boyfriend
This is a story of second chances. At life and at love. Tate left after high school to go to school – first in Toronto and then in London. He left behind his best friend/boyfriend Wyatt. Wyatt was set to take over his family farm, but Tate was destined for more. When he shows up at Wyatt’s farm 15 years later, its quite a surprise. But Tate back in Mission City and living in his parents basement is an even bigger surprise.
Wyatt was broken hearted after Tate cut off all communication. He’s dealt with the changes in his life including the death of his father and his mother moving away from the farm. He’s made some improvements to the farm but the cost has been working all the time. That hasn’t left time for a relationship. Tate on the other hand has been married and divorced. And another relationship that has not worked out. Wyatt can tell that Tate has more of a story that he isn’t sharing.
When Wyatt agrees to come to Tate’s family dinner, he sees Tate’s many siblings and their spouses/kids for the first time. He still knows that Tate hasn’t told him what’s going on. When a family friend shows up and there is a sort of “intervention” well all becomes clear. He’s shocked but he’s not about to abandon Tate. The truth is he’s never gotten over his first love. Tate feels the same, but he’s got a lot of baggage and he’s got to figure out his next steps.
I enjoyed this story of a second chance at love and redemption. Tate made a lot of mistakes. Wyatt never got over his first love and while shocked to see Tate return, he couldn’t help how he felt. Tate spent a lot of time running and climbing the corporate ladder, but he’d never been happy. He has a lot of regrets about how he conducted himself – starting with not communicating with Wyatt or his family. He’s been really lucky to get a second chance with both his first love and his family.
Fly Guy Boyfriend
Tex is a private pilot for a big wig in British Columbia. His given name was Dallas but he was raised in BC in Mission City by his Canadian dad. He wishes he was flying more – he’s getting paid a lot to sit around 5 days out of 7. Then he’s asked to pick up his boss’s son in Vancouver in the helo. He loves flying and so he’s happy to do it. It’s for this boss’s wife’s birthday party, but Davey isn’t too happy to be flying (read he’s terrified). But he does trust Tex.
Davey is none to happy to see his dad and his stepmother. Tex understands why after he attends a dinner with them. Davey also does not want to fly back to Vancouver 🙂 Tex feels protective of Davey. It’s clear he’s not thrilled with the situation of being back in BC and having to see his family, but needs must. He’s spent years at MIT but the political situation in the States, well not for him.
Tex wants to support Davey. He understands that Davey has a lot of baggage – he’s also lost his mother when he was young as well. He’s always been smarter than anyone around him, so he’s socially awkward. He’s gay, but hasn’t come out to his family. When his stepmother tries to set him up, well things go a bit sideways. Tex is feeling things he hasn’t before. He’s always down for sex, but he’s not done the relationship thing.
Davey isn’t a virgin, but he’s not great with feelings and relationship or communicating. While Tex tries to teach Davey to drive, they get closer. Davey wants Texas and he’s not shy about it though 🙂 Davey’s family is a bit shocked by the revelations but alls well that ends well.
This is another adorable story. Davey and Tex are sweet together. If you love opposites attract, I think this is a winner. It’s a bit instalove (which is in the description) but it’s a lot of fun and I was happy to see them get together. Everyone learns something about themselves and the world in this one and the HEA was worth the trip.
