Nash
It’s three in the morning, and we’re in her bed. My body throbs from his mouth on me, my blood still whooshing in my ears.
I want to make him feel like this, so I can drown in it.
So I can drown in him.
Goddamn, I want to suffocate in every fibre of Locke Halliwell with the woman I love at my side.
He has me fragile already.
She has me in pieces at her feet.
And man alive, I wish that was all I had to worry about.
But this life. It’s vicious. It’s deadly. And if I can’t protect every soul I’ve ever loved from the past, the future is already in ashes at my feet.
REVIEW:
Forcing the bad away, I brought my hand to his face and smoothed the worry lines from his eyes. Gave his lips a little nudge, turning his frown upside down. “I do trust you.”
Unholy Trinity is another fantastic, MMF biker book in Garrett Leigh’s nothing-short-of-brilliant Rebel Kings MC series. I love these guys (and gal) so much. I’ve said it before but it bears repeating: this is one of the very best examples of found family and ironclad brotherhood in the MM genre.
The action begins six years in the past with a glimpse into Locke’s history with the Dog Crows. It’s not pretty. But we do find out that he was attracted to Nash all those years ago. In the present day, we learn Nash struggles to keep his hands off Locke, but those cravings don’t come as a surprise. It’s a delicious slow burn between the two men. In Garrett’s words, Nash is a “dude virgin”. This cracks me up! It’s so much better than gay or bi virgin, or god forbid, anal virgin! Blech!
Instead of talking anymore about the plot – which you’ll want to discover for yourself – I’ll focus on the feels and angst contained here because that’s what we all love in this series. The big, bad biker boys and their emotions. Well, that and the dangerous but exciting, sexy biker action. Not to mention Locke’s neck tattoos. Gah! My weakness. And all the angst…Garrett is one of the Queens of Angst and she delivers in spades. Both men carry baggage, though – Nash grew up in a homophobic home where he was told loving a man is a sin. And Locke struggles with low self-worth. It’s heartbreaking that he questions if he deserves Orla and Nash and if he really belongs with them.
Garrett has packed so much love, brotherhood and fatherhood into this book. Locke is an endearing single dad. And don’t get me started on Rubi! I love how all the men are super comfortable with the children. There’s very much an “it takes a village” mentality. This, of course, has been present throughout the series but the more prevalent the kids become, the more obvious it is. The children add so much to the humanity of these wonderful men. These tough guys all have a soft side. The natural affection they have for each other is so apparent, as well. The respect and love among themselves is heartwarming. These biker boys are literally ride or die. They aren’t afraid of strong emotions and don’t fear the inherent danger from their enemies.
There’s a very unexpected twist at the end that promises a compelling plotline in Eternally Blessed, this book’s not yet released follow up. It’s a good time to mention this one ends with a significant cliffhanger. Grrrr. The suspense ramps up rapidly with what I believe will be the direction the next book takes. It promises to be horrific at times.
I’ve never been a fan of poly roms (hmm, my autocorrect changed that to poly rims) but Cam, Alexei, and Saint cured me of that. I’m strongly not a fan of chicks in my romance, poly or not. I won’t say Orla disabused me of that preference, but she is a special case here since we already know and love the Rebel Queen. Nash and Orla love each other deeply and it’s natural and organic when they welcome Locke into their relationship. So I’m here to say, even if you don’t think MMF is your thing, I encourage you to try Unholy Trinity. If you’ve been reading the series, you simply cannot skip this one; you’ll miss so much. And Orla really is a lovely, lovely character who deserves to step out of the periphery. Once again, this is a 5 heart/star read.
