What is the true nature of the relationship between the guitarist and bassist of the world-famous rock band, Caffeine Daydreams?
Kai
I should be happy.
My childhood best friend and I are living our wildest dream—making music and touring the world as famous rock stars. I’ve got everything I could wish for.
Except him.
I’ll never have Silas. Not the way I want.
Our onstage behaviour gives fans a lot to speculate over, but it’s only an act.
The truth is, I die inside every time we touch. It might be pretend for Silas, but for me, it’s a constant reminder that I can’t have him the way I truly desire.
Then, a moment onstage leads me to a breaking point, and I can’t bear the heartache any longer.
I need to find a way to only see Silas as a friend before I lose our friendship, and him, forever.
Silas
My life is split into two chapters.
Before Kai and After Kai.
My childhood was a nightmare. A darkness I carried alone. But everything became brighter when I met Kai. He took me into his life, his family, his home.
Kai is more than my best friend. He’s my everything.
Some people think our relationship is odd…that it’s unusual for two friends to be as close as we are.
But everything about us makes sense.
At least, that’s what I believed.
When an onstage moment shines a light on the cracks in our foundation, my eyes are opened to a truth that’s been right in front of me the entire time.
A truth I want to explore.
But it’s too late. Just when I’m ready for more, Kai’s moving on.
One thing’s for sure; I’m not giving up.
No matter the risks.
Green Light is a bi-awakening, best friends-to-lovers MM rockstar romance. The second in the Caffeine Daydreams series, each book will follow a different couple as they find their HEA. Although better read in order, these books can stand alone.
REVIEW:
I loved that we got the full back story of Kai and Silas as they grew up.
Kai has suffered through his best friend’s seemly playful fun to tease the fans. Unfortunately each one of those “sexy” dances on stage were like a knife to Kai’s heart. He longed for Silas to mean it but it was all playful fun and games by his bestie to rile up their fan base and keep them interested. But it meant something to Kai even though he could never tell Si the truth…that he was madly and completely head-over-heels in love with his very straight, manwhore best friend. Then, during the finale of their last show for the tour, that kiss happened and everything change in that moment! Kai couldn’t keep torturing himself and runs. With Kai MIA in his life for the first time in forever, Silas is left for months to try to figure out first: why was Kai ghosting him? And two: why was he reacting so strongly to that kiss?
I am absolutely sure I am not the only person that read the first book and wondered “what the heck is up with Kai and Silas”. I really did love that the author took us all the way back to their childhood and their first meeting. It gave us a stronger visualization of the “class” system that seemed to have prevailed during their youth. Having never been to England I hadn’t truly grasped it until the beginning of this book. Obviously they both loved each other from a young age but that love developed differently. Because Kai knew he was gay from a young age and pining for his straight best friend would never be reciprocated. But even more so for me was that Silas was so violently abused and neglected by his father. The only love and family young Silas knew was for Kai and his family. He was simply trying to survive and the extremely close friendship, that I truly believe was filled with love, obscured the attraction that Kai had that Silas never even comprehended. He just tried to soak in as much love that a family is suppose to give that he was never, ever to get in his personal dysfunctional family situation. And Kai couldn’t stand to hurt his best friend and love of his life so he kept it all from Silas.
It did hurt a lot when Kai rejected Silas though. I couldn’t even comprehend what it would be like to have everything you ever dreamed of served to you on a silver platter and then to reject it out of fear. And what that did to Silas. It’s a go thing that Silas really did love Kai as much as Kia love him. Because Kia did some really bonehead moves and he’s darn lucky that it didn’t cost him everything. I know watching Silas with a different woman each night was hard on him. And it was hard to grasp that Silas learned the truth about himself. But not trusting him and hearing him out properly was stupid.
I get the whole fake boyfriend thingie. It really wasn’t needed by me. Especially when they started to talk and Tristan was still around. But it did do one thing and I hope that’s why he was a character here. He peaked my interest of what exactly was going on that a successful and drop-dead gorgeous actor would need a fake boyfriend. I want…no need his story. But I’m sure that is after we find out about Jack and Arlo. That I have been waiting for and now their story seems to be taking yet another turn. Great new book in a fabulous series! I highly recommend it/them.
