AUTHOR: S.C. Wynne
PUBLISHER: Wynne Wynne Publishing
LENGTH: 122 pages
RELEASE DATE: October 13, 2021
BLURB:
Beau Dexter is a male escort with zero belief in love. He had a rough beginning in life, and he’s not looking for anything other than a full roster of satisfied clients.
Seth Fontaine is blind and grieving the loss of his lover five years ago. But even a broken-hearted man has needs, and that’s where Beau comes in.
Neither one of them is looking for anything other than a little superficial fun. But when these two damaged men connect on a much deeper level than expected, Beau’s extreme fear of emotional intimacy almost derails them before they even begin.
This heartwarming romantic Novella, originally called Kiss and Tell in 2015, has been redone and polished to flesh out the story more. I hope you fall in love with Seth and Beau just like I did all over again.
REVIEW:
This was a surprise for me – and a very pleasant one 🙂 Seth and Beau have each built walls around their hearts – for very different reasons. They start out very transactionally – Beau is being paid for sex. Seth has had no relationships at all since he lost his partner. He’s dealing with a lot of grief and guilt, but he does have needs. Beau is quite different to the men he’s hired in the past. He’s angry that Beau hasn’t been made aware of his entire situation and thinks that Beau is pitying him because of his blindness or making fun of him when he truly didn’t know. Beau likes Seth more than he cares to admit and he’s very intrigued by the guy. Their first encounter ends up with them sharing details about their past that both have obviously been keeping to themselves for a long time.
When Seth gets a repeat request, he’s surprised. He thought that Seth probably wouldn’t want to deal with him again. He’s reluctant to go but he’s too curious to give up on this. They have a pretty special second encounter and it’s clear this is more than just a transaction. Seth cooks for Beau. Beau lets himself enjoy his time with Seth. As they continue to see each other, they are spending more and more time together and they are have a great time. Seth is happy for the first time in five years. This of course sets off some alarms from Beau.
At some point Beau start seeing Seth off the books. He’s not charging for his time. He knows he’s stepping over the lines he’s set for himself, but the can’t seem to help it. Then Seth asks him to attend an event with him where Darren’s parents will be there. Darren is his deceased partner and this could go very badly. In the end, Beau feels very uncomfortable and jealous. He’s also terrified because Seth has confessed his feeling for him and Beau realizes he is falling in love with Seth as well and he just knows that Seth will tire of him and leave him with nothing in the end. His heart is already involved and he believes heartbreak is the only viable outcome here – so he lies. Luckily Seth isn’t very willing to just let things go.
This was a heartbreaking story that ends up quite hopeful. Love is the thing that Beau just doesn’t believe in. He’s never experienced unconditional love and has been betrayed by those who were supposed to love him in the worst possible ways. He’s determined to keep his heart firmly locked down. He doesn’t count on Seth at all. Seth is determined not to have his heart broken again so he pays for sex and keeps to himself. He finds Beau intriguing though and the more he knows the more he wants to know. When he falls for Beau and tells him, he doesn’t think Beau will break his heart – but he does. He’s determined though 🙂 I loved how Beau changed and started to understand the world differently. I also loved how Seth also changed and figure out he was going to have to keep working and reassuring Beau that he wasn’t going anywhere and wouldn’t knowingly hurt him. It’s a happy ending for two men who really deserve it. Recommended.
