Title: The 21-Day Boyfriend
Author: A.S. Kelly
Genre: MM Romance / Romantic Comedy with Christmas vibes
Release Date: October 25, 2023
Eric O’Shea needs to make a decision. The annual event his family forces him to attend is just around the corner, and he doesn’t have a date.
Eric never needs help when it comes to finding men. But this time is different – his ex and his new boyfriend will be there, and Eric can’t just bring along one of his usual flings.
His only hope seems to be him: the best friend of his best friend, who he never wanted to meet.
Sean Quinn is a calm, collected, and cultured man; someone who would rather stay at home and read a book than waste his time chasing a date with no future.
Sean isn’t in a rush to find the perfect man, and he certainly doesn’t intend to go out with Eric: his best friend’s other best friend, who he’s avoided meeting for years.
But Sean has a flaw: he can’t say no to anyone, especially not when it comes to his friend Jake, who has a habit of worming his way into other people’s lives.
But it’s just one date, after all: pure fiction. It’s a shame, then, that when Eric needs Sean for another favour, he can’t turn his back. It’s a shame that just when Sean is beginning to understand that Eric isn’t what he seems, he can’t seem to stop before he gets hurt.
Twenty-one days: that’s the agreement.
Twenty-one days of grazing hands, furtive glances, and unexpected kisses.
Twenty-one days where anything goes; except falling in love.
“Why didn’t you tell me about tonight?”
“I’d completely forgotten about it, and by the time I remembered, today… I didn’t want to just call you up after what happened and beg you to come. I didn’t want to seem pathetic.”
“You’re not, Mr. Quinn. Not even a little.”
I smile at him. Eric steps towards me, and his cold hands cup my face.
“I want to kiss you.”
“Oh… Well…”
“I’m not asking your permission. I’m just telling you. You know, so you can be prepared.”
“Thanks for thinking of—”
His mouth presses against mine, stripping me of my words. His hands slide down my face; one moves behind my neck, holding me to him, the other in my hair. My hands grab onto the lapels of his coat. The heat of his mouth melds with the frosty December air, and my thoughts get lost in the sound of Christmas music around us. Eric pulls away slightly, his lips sweetly caressing mine. The streetlights are reflected in his eyes, the taste of his kiss lingering still on my tongue.
“Will we go?”
“Upstairs?”
Eric laughs and lets me go.
“Sorry, that just slipped out.”
“I want to be your date tonight.” He holds his arm out, and I accept. “But when we come back, if you wanted to invite me up…”
“Nice try.”
He walks me over to his car and opens the door for me.
“Thank you.”
I settle inside and Eric walks around to the other side, climbing into the driver’s seat and switching on the ignition.
“Ready?” he asks.
To give all of this up?
I don’t think so.
