After moving back to his hometown to help his dad with the family bookstore, recent grad Rory Doyle is in desperate need of fun. So he puts himself up for auction on a dating app hoping to catch someone’s eye. A free three day vacation courtesy of the dating app sounds like just the antidote to his lousy mood. He and a sexy stranger could get up to something fun.
Everyone thinks Jacob Rodgers is scary. He’s a mechanic close to seven feet tall, but he thinks it’s the beard that covers old scars and tattoos down his neck that have people scurrying away everywhere he goes. No one knows Jacob has the caring heart of a Daddy underneath the rough exterior. All he wants is someone to take care of. When Carousel has its yearly auction, Jacob bids on the beautiful blond that appears to be perfect for him. Hopefully the man won’t shy away from Jacob’s terrifying appearance.
Sweetheart Daddy is a spicy MM age gap auction book featuring a mechanic Daddy and a prickly college graduate in need of serious cuddles and fun… maybe an aquarium date. It is a part of the Sweetheart Escapes multi author series. It can be read as a standalone, but why not grab them all?
REVIEW:
I have loved this new multi-author series and this is another great one.
Rory never planned that right after his college graduation he would have to suddenly leave his bestest friend Rowan in California to help out his ailing Dad. Now they can only talk and text every day but their “snuggles” aren’t there and it’s hard. When Roe Roe convinces his Rory Rabbit to sign up for the Carousel dating app auction, like he did, Rory is shocked that a Daddy not only bid on him but bid the max to make sure he got him. The only problem is Rory lied on the profile. He said he’s a bottom but that’s a lie. He’s a side and the yummy tattooed Daddy isn’t going to be happy wasting all that money. Jacob decides to appease his younger brother Milo that he raised. Milo begs him to bid to be someone’s daddy and help out the lgbtq+ charity in the process. When he comes across the sweet but tired looking boy that takes his breath away he knows he has to make sure no one else gets him. But can a big, burly, scarred and tatted up mechanic and a much younger book store worker make a long distance relationship work?
I loved Jacob. He gives and gives and takes care of all those that are important to him. He raised his much-younger little brother and still worries about him. Now he has finally found the one that works for him and he is going to make sure he is the best Daddy to the younger man that wants and needs him as badly as he does him. And Rory. He is caring and sweet and you can’t possibly not fall head over heals for him. These two make the perfect pair. They care so deeply about the other and put them first always.
I learned something new-to-me in this book. I knew that there are relationships where no anal intercourse happens. I actually have friends who are perfectly happy in their relationship and have never had it. But I had never heard of the term “side”. They hadn’t either. But now I discover, after a long trip going down the Google hole, that it’s not only a real term but that sites like Grindr have it as a choice.
Funny little thing. I reached out to Kota Quinn when I started reading this book and realized that I already knew these characters and they were from her book series. I knew that Morgan and Kota had had collaborated together in the Black Cat Circus and shared characters there and they were together in this series too. But Rowan has been in several of her books and he was very present here in this book. She laughed and thanked me for looking out for “my authors” and said she appreciated it and that this was completely legit. I just wanted you other readers to be prepared to know this in advanced because it took me by complete surprise. I know Morgan is a sweetheart and would new hurt their friend but you can’t be too careful in this day and age. So I hope you forgive me Morgan for reaching out. I would do the same for you too. I was burned by an author early in my reviewing career (and yes I do consider this a new volunteer, unpaid career I take seriously) that had pirated a story so I try to be as vigilant as possible.
