Sky’s been lost so long he doesn’t know what being found looks like, but Xander isn’t a man to let go when he finally gets what he wants.
Sky Weaver is a hot mess. Just ask him.
Behind on rent. Broke as f*&k. The poster child for “starving artist.” When his BFF, Rory, offers him a part-time assistant gig at his office, Sky can’t afford to refuse, even if it has disaster written all over it.
Alexander York seems to have it all: looks, brains, his own company, and the love and support of his billionaire grandfather to name a few. But the traumatic loss of his parents left physical and emotional scars. He’s hidden the deepest parts of himself, the wounds and the hopes, behind thick walls, waiting for that one special someone.
Their stormy romance opens a pandora’s box of emotion neither saw coming and the people in their lives don’t understand. If Sky wants a chance at a happiness he isn’t even sure he deserves, he’ll have to do the one thing he’s never been able to before— trust.
Seeking Sky is an angsty contemporary where a disaster twink and his cool, collected CEO redefine office romance, and where even jagged puzzle pieces find their fit. Book 2 in a series where artists find love—Portland style. Can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
TW Death of parents, drug addict mother, stalker/obsessive behaviour
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Danny Doormat, but was a bit worried when it said the next one was more angsty.
Yes, this book is a lot more angsty with the two main characters Brandon Sky Weaver and Alexander York both having traumatic backgrounds. However, it is written so well that I enjoyed this book more than the first one.
I love the imperfection of both of the main characters. They have different issues, but it made them so much more. The fact they have to sort themselves out before they could be good for each other just made the relationship between them so much more special. I keep wanting to say the characters felt more real because they weren’t perfect, but I have never been in either of their situations.
From the outside Alexander and Sky could not be more different. Alexander comes from a very wealthy family and is the CEO of a very successful tech company he set up. He is not a people person at all.
Sky is a completely broke artist with a drug addict mother who is currently in jail. He has survived on the streets and has the gift of the gab. He also has non-existent organisational skills. He can’t even remember to eat let alone charge his phone.
When Sky’s best friend Rory gets him a job as his assistant at Alexanders company, he knows he is going to mess up. So why is he suddenly promoted to Mr York’s personal assistant?? Not a position that even existed before??
Add in interfering cousins, friends and a not very nice ex-boyfriend to an already difficult relationship and you know the course of true love will not run easily.
The characters from Danny Doormat, Danny, Asa and Minion do appear in this book but only as minor side characters. If you have not read the first book that will not impact your enjoyment of this book.
I am looking forward to seeing if there will be a third book in the series.
