Sheriff JD Morgan loves his job as the sheriff of Collier’s Creek. It may be a small town, but he loves the place and its people. His roots run deep, and he can’t see himself living anywhere else.
He’s a little grumpy as he settles into middle-age, but that’s okay. He has two passions in life. One secret, one not. Everyone knows about his addiction to coffee, but no one knows he has a secret crush on his young dispatcher, Ben. JD fully intends to keep it that way. He’s too old for the kid.
Ben has two ambitions in life. The first is to become a deputy sheriff somewhere far from Collier’s Creek, and the second…that one’s proving more difficult. He makes it his mission to make his sheriff smile every morning as he hands him coffee. JD is his, make no mistake about it. The sheriff just doesn’t know it yet.
Then trouble rolls into town on the back of a Harley and JD discovers Ben has been hiding a secret past. A husband who wants Ben back and won’t take no for an answer.
JD is crushed. Ben is terrified.
Will they handle the unexpected husband problem together or will JD leave Ben to face danger alone?

Sheriff of Collier’s Creek is the third book in the multi-author series. Each book is stand-alone, but if you enjoy swoon-worthy romance set in a small town, then stay a while. You’ll fall in love with the men of Collier’s Creek.
REVIEW:
This is a sweet story of mutual pining. Ben has been in love with JD forever! Like literally since he knew he was gay at 14 he started crushing on the guy. His family life hasn’t been the greatest. His father was a cad and a cheater. His younger brother is an alcoholic. Ben wanted to get away so he left for college but then he ended up taking up with the wrong crowd and guy. He’s come back to Collier’s Creek to get away from that life.
JD has been the Sheriff for a while. He’s in the closet and he knows he should be lusting after his very young dispatcher. He knows Ben is gay and he really cares about him. But he’s also his boss and that’s not cool. The age and power imbalance bother him.
Eventually they can’t keep their hands off each other. Just as things are going well, Ben’s past catches up with him. JD is stunned. So is the rest of the town. The gossip mill is strong and they have to face a lot. then there is the danger that Ben is in. Thankfully JD realizes that this is his destiny and makes things right.
I haven’t read any other of the stories in this series. This story is shorter and it’s clear that in this small town everyone knows each other. And their business 😉 Very true to life. Ben made a bad judgement call in the past, but he recovers form that and he is happy with his life and his job. JD struggles more than Ben because of the age and employee/employer situation. I liked how they were honest with each other and how their friends supported them. Nothing earthshattering here, but an enjoyable story of two guys finding their HEA in the face of some haunting danger from the past. Recommended,
