I have three series – two of which already have the first books out, the third making its debut in 2024 – set in Wellington that are part of The Sleepless City paranormal world I share with Elizabeth Noble.
With them all being part in the same universe, it’s fun having them cameo in each other’s stories. Each of the series have a different ‘flavour’. Pōneke Shadows is a mystery detective, Kedgetown more cozy, small town, and Kiwi Psi will focus on psi powers.
As a fun aside, Mason’s sister in Postscript (Kedgetown Book 1) is part of the Kiwi Psi group, and Ben, Simon, and Josh from Double Exposure (Pōneke Book 1) cameoed in Postscript too.
Liam, one of the MCs, in Rosebound, the first Kiwi Psi story, had a brief scene in Double Exposure too. I’m planning a proper crossover further into that series.
I’m enjoying reimagining Wellington with a paranormal community hiding in plain sight. Who knew that a countrywide (fictional) real estate firm is a family business run by a pack of werewolves, or that two (that we know of) professors at Victoria University are vampires? And don’t forget the werewolves living in our community. One’s a police detective in the Lower Hutt suburb of Naenae and another a librarian in a small community library in the Western Hills.
Re the librarian, I decided we needed a library up there so created one for my stories. Then, two years after the book was published, one opened up there…. Sadly none of the librarians are werewolves though…
At least as far as I know.
I’ll be returning to The Sleepless City world once my dragons are out in the world, but in the meantime Double Exposure is on sale this month so a great chance to start reading about paranormal Wellington.

Pōneke Shadows Book 1
Vampires and werewolves live long lives. The Sleepless City saga might have ended but the story continues…
Someone is hunting supernaturals.
Vampire Simon Hawthorne and his human partner Ben Leyton’s plans for a peaceful holiday with family are hijacked by the New Zealand Supernatural Council.
Tensions are on the rise in Wellington. Supernatural councillors are disappearing. Werewolves are suspicious of anyone human or vampire. If they don’t work together, their enemy has already won.
And no one with a connection to the supernatural world is safe.

Meantime I’d love to see some of you in my readers group and/or signing up for my newsletter. Elizabeth Noble and I also have a Facebook group for our shared world, The Sleepless City.
