Ivan Gallagher’s first and only attempt at love nearly cost him everything—his reputation, family, and even his freedom. Needing an outlet for his pent-up passion, the gruff foreman turns his beekeeping hobby into a successful business. Just when he’s on the verge of taking his liquid gold to the next level, a granted favor transforms his orderly life into a sticky mess.
Rory Snyder was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but wealth couldn’t spare him from loss and heartache. Finding himself at the center of a dangerous media storm, the social media influencer seeks refuge at Redemption Ridge. Too bad the Viking-sized Ivan seems impervious to Rory’s charms because he could use a sexy distraction from the chaos threatening to ruin his life.
Predawn collisions in the hallway lead to revelations, explorations, and something far sweeter than honey. Soon, living in the moment becomes living for the moment. But for how long? A future seems impossible for the humble foreman and the fortunate son until a common nemesis makes Ivan and Rory realize what they truly stand to lose.
The Fortunate Son is book two in the Redemption Ridge series. Though each story features a different couple, reading the series in order is essential. The Fortunate Son contains mature themes and is intended for adults.
Content Warning: homophobia, underage alcohol addiction, and intentional overdosing are briefly discussed in this book, though no graphic descriptions are used.
REVIEW:
Lately my favorite reads are including the powerful elements of found family. The latest addition to Aimee’s Redemption Ridge series is no exception. Which leads me to my usual disclaimer, you need to read book one in this series – this is not a standalone. In the world today the bonds of found family can be so much stronger than blood relations. And sometimes that’s the attachments that mean the most and are the most helpful.
This new universe Aimee is developing is so wonderful, fascinating and sexy. Add in the backdrop of Colorado and I couldn’t put this one down.
The character development in this book gets better and better. I love the depth we get with all the side characters too. One of my favorites is Hope. She’s just this wonderful free spirit of a woman and embraces everything good in the world. Which includes the men of Redemption Ridge. Aimee’s gift for witty, sexy, and intriguing banter is also on full display throughout the book.
“Cougar,” Finley mock whispered. He turned to his stepdad with a raised brow, but Gary just shrugged as if to say you know how she is. When the hug lingered, Finley said, “Blink twice if you want to be rescued, Rory.”
In this story, there are some very sexy, steamy scenes between Ivan and Rory. But there is also an underlying mystery brewing and I can’t wait to see how this resolves itself. Which I hope is revealed and resolved in a story about Cash and Nick, I feel the heat from those two and burns up my eReader in the same way the heat from Ivan and Rory do. I also enjoy the low angst in this story and series. Sometimes what you need is sexy and sweet. Which this book has tons of and should be read with a fan and a cold drink nearby.
I highly recommend this second book in her series, Redemption Ridge. If you enjoy intrigue, off the charts hot romance, stellar prose, then this is the book for you. So, you need to run to your nearest book purchasing site/store and get this book. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. Keep them coming Aimee, I truly love this series.
