REVIEW:
Fishsticks is a beloved pet of James. James unfortunately dies and Fishsticks is left with Jules, his husband, and Nora. Fishsticks is NOT happy. He doesn’t understand what has happened to his human and he’s not a fan of the other humans who have set up residence in his enclosure. During the first year, Fishsticks cannot believe how terrible his life has become. Fishsticks also asks for feedback from the other cats in his building while he’s on his catio. Unfortunately the other felines aren’t a lot of help.
Fishsticks comes up with a plan to make the humans as miserable as he is. He also is on a campaign to get back his Tuna Tuesdays. He survives the indignity of visiting the vet and when it turns out he needs injections and a special diet, well that is just a bridge too far. Thankfully a new human starts visiting – Liam – who seems to be a friend of Jules. Fishsticks thinks maybe his life is turning around now that this human recognizes him for the king of the enclosure that he is. There is also a return to Tuna Tuesdays! When Liam is around, Fishsticks has a nice lap to sit on and he claims Liam as his own. Jules is just happy to have someone to help with taking care of Fishsticks.
Oh my god. This book is hilarious! Fishsticks is a character in Ms. Warren’s book The Right Wrong Number and this is the that story from his POV. The story begins in the same place that book does – with the death of James, Jules’s husband and Fishsticks human. Nora, Jules best friend moves in with him to keep him alive basically as he is overwhelmed with grief. Fishsticks is incensed with his treatment by these annoying humans. His enclosure is way too crowded with these awful humans. Only Liam has recognized his worth and treats him accordingly. Fishsticks is desperate to get rid of Nora and her messy objects from his enclosure. He has to work on these plans between his naps 😉 It takes years to get to the place where he is satisfied with his life after James. Liam is an acceptable replacement human and when he finally moves in, things change for the better for Fishsticks. There is an HEA for everyone in this enclosure! For fans of Jules and Liam’s story, this is an absolutely delightful companion story. For fans of cat POV books, this is a real hoot! For fluff’s sake, get it and read it 🙂 Highly recommended.
