REVIEW:
Robert has closed himself off from the world after the death of his lover. He works his ranch and that’s about it. Is he lonely? Sure, but if he never takes a chance again, he can never be hurt.
Toby has closed himself off for different reasons but he’s still just as alone.
They may just be the key to unlocking each others world.
I came to like these characters (and the others on the ranch) rather quickly. Both of them flirting without the other actually realizing it was truly funny and they had amazing chemistry. As always KC Wells writes fantastic banter between the main characters and also between the supporting cast. The author did a great job of showing how much Robert means to the men who work for him. I wish I had such a great group of people around me.
I picked up this book because I liked the ideas behind it. These two men are struggling in different ways and until the other walks into their lives, they have no idea how miserable they really are. And of course, KC Wells is an expert at hot, steamy sex scenes that will take your breath away and leave you in need of a shower.
However, it was a bit too much for me. I would have rather seen more conversations between not just Robert and Toby, but them talking to the other characters as well. I know a lot of people like the spicy scenes and if BDSM is your thing, you will love this. I’m not adverse to sex on page, I just am at the point in my life that I’m more about the story than the sex.
And as KC Wells is so brilliant at creating characters that can reach into your soul and tug your heartstrings, I would love to have gotten to know everyone a little better.
I did like Robert’s sister. She made him a little more human for me as her love for him shone through.
And I feel like the story was a little short, but then again, that could just be me wishing for more because the story really is very good.
I’ll be looking forward to the next book in the series because I enjoy the humor that this book has along with the romance and can’t wait for more.
