Disaster #1: Fun With Family
Nolan is the hot but grumpy goth boy who lives across the street from perpetually sunny necromancer Sky.
Nolan wants nothing to do with Sky.
That is until his older brother is on the run from a local vampire clan after he failed to deliver on a promise.
Nolan is about to learn that vampires, shifters, witches, and magic are very real. He needs an expert to guide him through this dangerous world.
It’s Sky’s time to shine!
And just maybe he can win the heart of a grumpy introvert. (Assuming he doesn’t scare the man to death first.)
How the Necromancer in the Gold Vest Saved My Life is a serial comprising four novellas that follow the insane adventures of necromancer Skylar Wallace and his next-door neighbor Nolan Banks. This book contains vampires, werewolves, witches, underworld minions, danger, surprises, sassy corpses, and some pretty amazing sandwiches.
REVIEW:
This is a spinoff of the Lord of Discord series from Ms. Jocelynn Drake. You might recall our witches appearing in Visiting the Variks in Gideon’s Ghost Story. This set of books will follow one witch in particular, our Necromancer, Skylar Wallace and his love and neighbor, Nolan Banks.
At the beginning of the story, we find Skylar with his friends at Rafe’s club, Phoenix, having a night out. When Skylar saw his neighbor (who he has been trying to meet for a while now) confronting a table of vampires, he readily swoop in in order to prevent his neighbor from getting killed not knowing what it was all about.
When Nolan told him why he was there and that he was just trying to look for his brother, Sky couldn’t help but come to his aid. Nolan reluctantly accepts his help when Sky pointed out that he is out of his league going against vampires. As they work together in order to save Nolan’s brother, Nolan got a crash course into vampire clans, witches and all the things that they do. The upside of it all is that Nolan will get to know his really adorable and endearing Necromancer. And he also got to meet the ruling Vampire clan in North America, the Variks.
Another thrilling adventures awaits us in this new series from Ms. Jocelynn Drake.

Disaster #2: Pet Problems
Nolan has been keeping a secret.
In his defense, he wasn’t sure if he could trust Sky at first.
And then, well…his life got pretty crazy for a while. He might have just forgotten.
But that secret has come calling and it’s about to take a big bite out of Nolan.
Of course, there’s no way Sky’s going to let anyone hurt his neighbor, friend, and possibly one-day baby daddy. He’s hitting back hard to keep Nolan safe.
Even the roses are angry in this one. (Just trust me on this one. Beware of the roses.)
REVIEW:
If you read the short story before this came out then you are already familiar with our main characters, Skylar Wallace and Nolan Banks. If not, that’s fine. In that short story our Necromancer finally met his grumpy but all-too-attractive-it’s-hard-not-to-fall-in-love-with-neighbor. Setting his attraction aside, Sky wants to help Nolan in looking for his brother who has gotten into something he may not be able to get out of.
Saving Nolan from the vampire clan who employs his brother was just the tip of the iceberg. As he started learning the kind of service that Nolan’s brother are giving the clan, Sky is now more than invested in helping Sky. Aside from the obvious that Nolan might get killed along the way, what the clan is doing is just not legal, even for the vampire world.
In this instalment, Sky and Nolan are now faced with the fact that Nolan got bitten by the Sandor Clan’s leader, Christoph. And now that Nolan’s brother has left, Christoph has come to claim what is his and thus visits Nolan in his house. Of course, Nolan doesn’t want to be owned by anyone, least of all, a Vampire who has BAD written all over him. But he forgot to mention to Sky that he was bitten the night he went to the club to look for his brother.
Sky is determined to save his soon-to-be-Baby-Daddy from the ruthless Vampire, he thought of ways to resolve it, bringing in a witch he knows who is a Varik, Fox. When Sky and Nolan met with Fox and Winter, he never thought that things would escalate enough that they have to have a meeting with the King of the Vampires, King Aiden and thereby meeting the Varik clan, the ruling clan in all of North America.
I love learning about the Necromancer and how he looks unassuming but beware, he is Powerful enough to raise the dead and make them do things for him. His Coven is full of powerful witches and they are his family. Although Nolan has been spinning in his head since his brother got involve with the vampires, he can’t help but be excited and thankful for Sky. His neighbor is so cool and scary at the same time, sweet, thoughtful and so so endearing.
I never knew I needed to learn about Necromancers, Earth Witches and that I miss the Variks so so much! Thank you Ms. Jocelynn Drake for this spinoff, it certainly didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for the next book.
