BLURB:
Getting caught in the middle of two hyper-competitive, muscle-bound gym bros isn’t supposed to be this fun, is it?
I’m a list person. Lists make sense, they give a chaotic, unpredictable world order. Realizing I was gay at 30 definitely wasn’t on my list.
I guess I need a new list….
New apartment: check.
New gym bod: Let’s call that work in progress….
Dive into the gay dating pool: Double check
I didn’t plan to move in smack dab between two rival beef-cakes, but I’m not complaining.
I can’t tell if wooing me is just another challenge they’re trying to win or if fighting over me is their way of dancing around the obvious tension between them. But, the more I get to know them both, the more I’m hoping this whole thing might be real.
I don’t think I have the list for this….
REVIEW:
What a fun story! Ezra is the cutest and Dre and Xeno are hilarious as they compete and fight and basically try to keep their hands off each other. Dre has not been successful in his past relationships with guys like Xeno. They are competitive and like to push each other. – both in the gym and out of it.
Ezra is the baby gay in their midst – like literally between their apartments n the same building (there is a super meet cute here also). He’s new to the city, having lived in the ‘burbs with his wife before he finally admitted to himself that he’s gay. He doesn’t want to keep living a lie. He’s got a whole list of things that he’s supposed to do now that he’s living his truth. But he’s really nervous about it. He’s working out with Dre, having pizza with Xeno and suddently these three men find themselves in a threesome 😉 But how will that work? Ezra doesn’t want to have to choose. A wise man tells him maybe he doesn’t have to. There is such a thing as polyamory. Maybe he should look into it?
Meanwhile Xeno and Dre don’t want to put pressure on Ezra. They are still trying to figure out their own dynamic. They’ve been pushing against each other for while, but maybe with Ezra in the mix, they can all figure out a way forward. It’s going to require honesty and communication – something neither of them has felt like they are particularly good at. But with this relationship as the thing they both want, maybe they can finally be vulnerable and honest together.
This was adorable! Ezra is just so adorable – with his nerves and his lists and his shyness. And his surprising choice in underwear 😉 Xeno and Andre both have their own insecurities. It takes the three of them being together to figure out their issues. I loved how Ezra gained confidence with his blossoming relationship with these two men who obviously had a thing for each other before he ever came on the scene. It’s like he’s the catalyst that forced them to deal with everything once and for all. There really isn’t a lot of angst here and I enjoyed that the story is told from all three POVs because it really provided insight into each guy’s progression to understanding and embracing their own needs and desires.
As usual Nick J. Russo does a wonderful job performing this story. Ezra is sweet and hot and funny in his characterization. Zeno and Dre are definitely the alphas here who are jockeying for position with each other, but once Ezra is on the scene, they tamp things down so as not to scare him off and in doing so, realize that there is a way for all of them to be happy. I really enjoyed every scene of this story in this narrator’s capable hands. Fun, sweet, hot and sexy – it’s all here. Highly recommended.
