An explosive found family romance in the Bearytales in the Wood world.
Brad feels out of place in his tight-knit family. His six gay Daddy brothers are all coupled up, leaving Brad as the lone Daddy without a boy to love. The drama of the past two years has eased and now, he’s lonely.
Brad has always found solace in his barn, where he spends his days blowing things up and writing poetry about the explosive chaos. He’s even gotten a publishing contract although he isn’t sure what he’s meant to do with it.
Then a shy young man turns up at Christmas Tree farm from his publisher. He’s meant to be there to illustrate Brad’s book, but what he can’t remember is he and Brad have met before. The rest of the family can though, from the smirks.
No matter what he wants, Eric knows he’s there just until the book is complete. Brad wants him to stay forever in his arms. It’s an impossible choice for Eric. Then danger knocks at the cabin door…
The final book in the Bearytales series by Sue Brown.
REVIEW:
This is the last book of a lovable series about the seven Brenner brothers, who live up the mountain. They are all gay and Daddy. Six of them found their boy. This story is about the last single Daddy, Brad.
We already know Brad loves his explosives and writes poetry. He’s lonely, seeing all his brothers with their boys makes him missing something or someone.
One day at lunchtime there’s a guy at the door asking for Bradley Brenner, it’s Eric. They all know him, but he seems confused he doesn’t recognize them, because his memory is messed up.
Eric is an illustrator and will draw for Brad’s book.
Brad tells Eric the truth, how they met and had some sexy time together. Eric can imagine he did, Brad is such an attractive man, a Daddy.
Brad wants to take it easy, his heart is vulnerable when Eric is finished and leave, Brad will be devastated.
While it was a lovely story, it went all too fast, it felt a bit underdeveloped.
The epilogue was, for me, the best part, it was emotional and sweet.
The concept of the series, boys coming from a harsh place and the seven Daddy brothers on the mountain, who took care of them, was original, easily readable, and good romanticized.
