Allesandro
Courage. Loyalty. Victory. These are more than words on the Martelli Crest. They’re ingrained in my very soul. The world can tremble and I’ll put my adversaries on their knees over these values. Vengeance is the only option and it will be mine.
Emilio
My ties to the rest of the world, the civilized society, have long been severed. My heart beats for one man and my soul belongs to a new Family. I’ll paint this city crimson if I have to make a point. We’ll have our vengeance, if it’s the last thing I do in this life.
What happens when warped ethics meet their match?
Trigger warnings: Contains graphic violence and other material that may be distressing. It is intended for a mature audience of 18+ Please see inside for more warnings.
This is a continuous series. The first six books must be read prior to this one. This is not the final book of the series.
This is the second to last book in this series, and I found myself wondering how much more could happen before we finally see it come to an end. One of the consistent themes throughout this series has been loyalty. Allesandro demands and expects it from everyone, most especially his family and Boys. Various situations have caused some to test that out. Not many get second chances to do so, but here have been a lucky few (Luca and Marcus).
Likewise, Allesandro’s way of life has been tested as well. When Emilio came into his life, he didn’t stand much of a chance, although he surely tried to fight it. Yet, at every turn, Emilio surprised him and basically embraced everything Allesandro threw at him. This has earned him the position as closest to Allesandro, surpassing Luca in ways no one thought possible.
While Allesandro demands the loyalty and is not shy to dish out punishments, etc., he also cares deeply for his family. That has been shaken up quite a bit recently by Jax who has come out as the clear runner gunning for position of the City’s Il Padrone. Up to this point, Allesandro and the gang have basically been on the offensive, but they have begun to make counter attacks and it really feels like the tides are about to turn in this regard.
We have one more book to see how this war all turns out. As bad and difficult as Allesandro can be, Jax makes him look like a saint, so I’m ready to see him taken out in spectacular fashion. I’ve really come to enjoy the family members here, each in various ways and for various reasons, so I’ll be sad to see this end. However, I’m ready for the war to end and can’t wait to read the final installment.
