BLURB:
In the weeks leading up to his best friend’s wedding, twenty-three-year-old Harry Thunder truly hits rock bottom. Existing in a haze of vodka and self-destruction, there’s more to Harry’s obnoxious behaviour than meets the eye.
But life, as he knows it, is about to change, and not even Harry can stop the tsunami of feelings when he finally realises that he’s allowed to be happy. That he’s just as loveable as people like…Owen Cartwright.
Owen is large and loud and calls everyone babes, while Harry can’t even string a coherent sentence together, let alone get through the day without life punching him in the face.
But perhaps sometimes being exactly who you are can be why people fall in love with you.
Even if you’re not gay. At all.
REVIEW:
Another new-to-me author!
Harry Thunder is so screwed! His father’s blatant narcissistic attitude continues to follow him into his death. It was all about him, his precious T&L, and basically his to screw over your son when you are dead. Now Harry is neck high in bankruptcy proceedings and and drowning his miserable like in bottles of vodka. When Eddie, his lifelong best friend, and his fiancé Joe go to Owen, Joe’s bestie and fellow nurse, they beg him to do something about Harry. It’s no secret that Owen has a massive crush on Harry and tenderly takes care of him after his drunken brawls. The only problem is that Harry keeps stating that he’s not gay…at all! But is he really???
I think one of the parts that really got to me was the first time Harry and Owen made out and Owen touched him intimately. Harry was so embarrassed about releasing so trigger fast in his pants but Owen was so touched that Harry trusted him so much to allow it. It showed once more how deeply Owen loved and cared for Harry. How much he treasured him. And how love starved Harry really was. Poor, basically neglected (at least emotionally) Harry. His parents were very selfish and neglectful parents. It was all about me, me, me but not their only child. Or at least his mom’s only child. That was yet another way his dad was such a tool. It’s no wonder that Harry didn’t have a single clue about love and intimacy. His homophobic father would have had a fit and tossed him out if he so much as looked at another boy that way. And just maybe that would have been a better life for him. At the very least a healthier way to grow up. You know Eddie and his family would have taken him in in an instant.
I enjoyed getting to know these four friends. They loved and cared about the others even if Harry didn’t have a clue how to properly for so long.
