Can two warring team principals in the cutthroat world of F1 ever admit that there’s more to life than scoring points?
On the surface, Kurt Whitford has everything. A successful business. Good looks. Money. A famous popstar girlfriend hanging off his arm. And as the icing on the cake, he’s just been announced as Nebula’s new team principal. The downside? The opposition. It’s seventeen years since Kurt has seen the infuriating and irresistible Gio Rossi, but the man hasn’t changed a bit.
Whatever Kurt Whitford has, Giovanni Rossi can surpass. Well, except for the girlfriend. Despite needing to keep his sexuality on the down low, he’s not that far in the closet. And if Kurt thinks that Gio’s ready to let bygones be bygones, he couldn’t be more wrong. Gio hasn’t forgiven. Or forgotten.
As a long-rooted rivalry kicks off once more and sparks fly both on and off the track, can Gio and Kurt go head-to-head without the media getting wind of their true feelings? Or is their undeniable sexual chemistry about to prove their downfall?
REVIEW:
As part of a series of stories about Formula One, Scoring Points is the fourth book written by H.L. Day. This is not my first book from this author and I happily read this one because aside from having a good author, I love Formula One.
Scoring is an enemies to lovers trope where we find Kurt Whitford on one team as lead Principal and his rival/opponent, Giovanni Rossi from another team. They had a history, when they were younger, and Gio hasn’t really forgotten or forgiven Kurt for that.
So when they were pitted as rivals on the track, it only made things a bit more intense for the both of them given their history. But underneath all these rivalry is also the fact that they have feelings for each other. Long buried but still very strong and really intense.
As Principals of their respective teams, it can’t be help that the media are on to them. To create the hype of their rivalry of course their respective teams engages the media to boost each of them, on and off the track. But will the media see how they truly feel towards each other. Or will they be able to hide it from the media, and from themselves.
But everything comes to a head sooner or later right? With the help (or not) of their friends, these two realized some hard truths about themselves, about each other and about how they truly feel about each other.
I find this book fun to read, there were light moments, and there were a lot of frustrating moments for me too, but in the end I think what they went through(although decades is too long for me) made them who they are now and also made them ready for what’s coming to them.
A good addition to the whole series, thank you HL Day and to all the authors in this series. I cannot wait to read more. Congratulations!
