REVIEW:
I was so happy to come back to Twilight Falls and catch up with the group of friends again. Carter left Twilight Falls to become a movie star, he has had a very successful career with the world as his oyster. He has a reputation as a love them and leave them but is the media portraying the true story or is there more than meets the eye. Tragedy strikes and Carter steps up to take care of his young niece, realising they would get no peace in Hollywood, Carter and Maisie return to Twilight Falls where all of Carter’s friends step up and help take care of Maisie.
Elijah had a very successful career in Paris as a pastry chef, making delicious treats. After his volatile relationship breaks down, he remembers his Grandmothers wishes that he set up a Patisserie in Twilight Falls, a place he spent many a happy holiday.
Neither of them is looking for love, both are facing personal difficulties, that they think leave no time or energy for a relationship. Then they find themselves living next door to each other.
Carter and Elijah are wonderful together, Elijah didn’t know that Carter was a famous movie star and sees him as an attractive, fun guy dealing with the death of his sister and taking on the responsibility of caring for Maisie. Maisie was a delight, to see her blossoming from traumatised to a precocious, lovable child was a wonderful part that I enjoyed. She was instrumental in bringing them together, she had spent most of her life in France and due to the trauma of the death of her parents was only speaking French and poor Carter was struggling to get her to eat or sleep. Enter Elijah who also speaks French and cooks French food, a godsend for Carter and Maisie, who immediately bonds with Elijah.
Slowly but surely Carter and Elijah’s relationship deepens and what starts as supportive friendship soon turns to romance. As we all know, issues from the past, that they both try to walk away from never stay buried and tend to come back and haunt us. The question then, is do they run away or face that past head on and lean on each other for the strength they need.
I was surprised that Elijah’s ex-boyfriend, the pompous, arrogant, top French Chef who I thought I’d hate, I warmed up to.
Carter’s friends rally round, to help with Maisie and we learn a bit more about them, their history together, and the mischief they got up to when they were teenagers.
Another wonderful romance from Twilight Falls.
