Life on Mars by Patricia Logan
Narrated by Michael Dean
FBI Files, Book 4
Things aren’t always what they seem.
Special agent, Max Prince, and his boyfriend, Dr. Leo Reeves, are back to work after their first case together. When a prominent Department of Defense scientist kills himself in a mysterious way, their entire FBI team is tasked to figure out if the weapon he was working on was somehow the cause of his death. Things get even more interesting when SAC Lincoln Snow calls in old friends to help. Damon Thorne, formerly of the CIA, and Jarrett and Thayne from the ATF step up help on the premise that their case might have a link to biological terrorism.
It’s so much worse.
Seventy years ago, the CIA began an illegal human experimentation program, code named MKUltra, and the more Leo and Max learn about what Dr. Cummings has been doing for the DOD, the closer they draw parallels to the defunct program. These experiments aren’t the only things the government scientist has been working on. When Jarrett and Thayne go exploring at his house, they discover a secret room which promises to reveal the true nature of what’s happening…and it’s worse than they could’ve imagined.
Evil always targets the most vulnerable.
Just when they think they’ve figured out what’s going on, an old nemesis from the FBI steps in with instructions to shut it all down and take over. All Max knows is, the sudden appearance of a guy their whole team hates, can’t be good, especially when he starts throwing his weight around. Something else is going on here and a cover up is on the tip of everyone’s tongue. To top it all off, an embarrassing ex, an accidental poisoning, multiple break ins, and a couple of bad guys acting like ninjas, add to the utter chaos of this case which promises to be stranger than life on Mars. After all—
Truth is stranger than fiction.

Leo laughed but he let the subject drop as he took hold of Max’s hand and dragged him into the tight space. Max’s shower was actually larger than average but neither of them were small men so when they both occupied it, close quarters was the way Leo would describe it. He silently promised himself he would someday take them both to a place with a massive shower like he saw in those home improvement shows Max liked to watch on weekends and during downtime.
The spray was warm, and the company as inviting as it could possibly be as Leo pulled Max close and began kissing him. He absolutely adored this man and the more he kissed him, the more he relaxed. Being in Max’s arms usually had this effect on him.
“You’re so fuckin’ sexy, darlin’,” Max gasped as he pulled away moments later. Leo blinked away water droplets and stared into the pale green eyes he loved so much. He’d never seen that shade of eyes before meeting Max, and they absolutely fascinated him. He knew he’d die happy as long as he could stare into Max’s eyes for the rest of his life.
“I think you’re sexy as hell too. Now, about that fuck.”
Max chuckled but he allowed Leo to spin him roughly to face the wall as he grabbed the lube off the shelf. They didn’t always need it these days. They somehow managed to get in a fuck at least five or six times a week even with their schedules. Leo realized he was smiling about fucking Max. He’d recently realized that he categorized their sex life between making love and just plain old fucking. He liked the variety. Sometimes he just wanted to get nasty as hell with Max and tonight was one of these times. His therapist had told him that a healthy sex life was an important step in the healing process and as a psychologist himself, Leo was well aware of the fact. He was only thrilled that he could be with the man he loved in a happy, stable relationship.
Max automatically spread his legs, lifting both arms to lean against the wall of the shower as Leo prepared him. He obediently leaned his head against the crossed arms and let Leo take charge, seemingly waiting to be penetrated as Leo worked a finger into him. Leo loved the submission. Prep was quick and after he pulled free, he moved in close, spreading Max with both hands as he positioned the wide head of his cock against his tight hole. He leaned in and kissed the side of his lover’s neck and whispered into his ear, “This might get hard. You seem to have that effect on me.”
“Do your worst, darlin’,” Max said, turning to meet Leo’s mouth. They kissed awkwardly and then separated their lips as Leo began pushing in.
