The Sunny Side by Lily Morton
Narrated by Joel Leslie
The Model Agency, Book 1
Jonas Durand is successful, rich, and controlled. He owns a prestigious modelling agency and has the world at his fingertips, but a turbulent childhood has taught him to be focused and never deviate from a plan.
Dean Jacobs threatens that stance. He’s one of the world’s most sought-after supermodels, but he’s also laidback and lighthearted and free in a way that Jonas has never quite managed.
Dean has always been interested in Jonas and has never made any secret of his admiration, but from the beginning, Jonas put him in a neat little box labelled, “Don’t touch,” turned the key, and never looked back.
However, the universe seems determined to thwart Jonas’s plans. Over the course of one hot summer, the two men come together, and Jonas’s well-ordered life becomes something a whole lot wilder.
Moving from the glamorous worlds of London and Paris Fashion Weeks to the sleepy South of France, Jonas finds himself liberating partridges, chasing his supermodel, and falling in love.
From bestselling author, Lily Morton, comes a romantic comedy set in the fast-paced and snarky world of modelling. This is the first book in the Model Agency series.

“I told him not to be so silly,” Cam says. “He needs to come to the party and be seen. He’s far too young and hot to sit in a villa all night.” Unspoken is the message that I am far too old and probably keeping him there against his will. I want to say something sharp, but he’s actually not wrong on some of that. Dean is much younger than me, and we’re worlds apart, a fact I seem to have forgotten lately. The knowledge is surprisingly painful.
“You should go,” I say weakly.
Dean’s eyes sharpen on me. “What?”
I nod, forcing myself to smile. “You should go to the party.”
He cocks his head to one side. “You want me to go to a party without you?”
I shrug. “Yes, why not. It’ll be fun for you. Ruby and I are only going back for a story and bed.”
“And a last swim,” she points out in the manner of a rep for Unison.
“Yes, of course.”
Dean’s eyes narrow. “And you’re okay with me going to a party with Cam?”
I lick my lips, my heart thundering in my chest. “Yes,” I say faintly, and even I can hear the hesitation in my voice.
He observes me, and then to my astonishment, he nods. “Yeah, okay.”
“What?”
“I’ll see you later, then.”
Giving Ruby a kiss, he claps me on the back. Cam gives me a triumphant stare, and then they’re gone, wending their way through the chairs until they reach the waterfront, where Cam gives a whoop of joy. They’ve vanished into the crowd within a few minutes, but I still stare, almost expecting Dean to appear again and tell me it was a joke.
“Oh dear,” Ruby says.
“What?” I clear my throat. “What, darling?”
She gives me a look that says she’s feeling very sorry for me. “The other day at summer school, my friend Louise wanted to go and play with Polly Reynolds, and I said she should, but I didn’t mean it, and then I was sad because she did it.”
“Oh, dear.” I lick my lips. “Why would you tell me that, darling?”
She pats my hand. “You look sad, but you shouldn’t worry.”
“Why?”
“Because Louise and Polly fell out, and then Polly ripped the head off Louise’s Malibu Camping Barbie, and Louise pulled Polly’s hair, and then Mrs Finchley made them both have time out. I don’t think Dean wanted to go, really.”
“So why did he?”
She blinks. “Well, because you told him to, Papa.”
“I did, yes.” I look at her. “Skewered,” I say.
She wrinkles her nose. “You might feel better if we go and buy another tutu,” she advises.
“You think?”
She nods. “Come on, Papa.”
I take her hand, and we walk along by the water, but I can’t help looking for Dean wherever we go. I don’t see him.
