Wild Hearts Omega by Jean. K. Hart
Whiskey & Scars, Book 1
Shiloh wasn’t a typical omega…
He liked his boots tall, his shirts short and his Alpha’s big and bad. He gives just as good as he takes, and he could ride a cowboy like a devil. Working at the pleasure house in Greyhound’s Canyon, Shiloh was planning to pick up his belongings and leave his life in the town of Greyhound Canyon until he met his match.
Michael Cox was a stone-cold killer.
A ruthless bounty hunter with a wiry grin, smoking hot body, and legs that would make even a bull shudder. Shiloh knew he was in for the ride of his life when Michael came to his bed.
It ends just as quickly as it starts and Michael Cox disappears like doused smoke from a fire.
Good riddance. Even though Shiloh’s heart had beaten out of his chest at the mere sight of the black leather-clad Alpha, with his wicked guns and dimpled grin, Michael Cox was the sweetest sin. In the South, we take our whiskey neat, and our scars with a dose of pride.
Shiloh was getting on just fine without him until he was taken in the middle of the night by Michael’s sworn enemies. Can Shiloh survive? Or will Michael have to unleash the animal inside him to get his Omega back?

There’s something out there
The room was dimly lit by oil lamps, with a faint smell of perfume and tobacco smoke in the air. Shiloh winced as the gunslinger probed his shoulder, trying to bandage the gaping wound.
As he looked up at the gunslinger, he could see fear in his eyes. The usually stoic man seemed shaken and unsteady as if he had seen something that he couldn’t explain. Shiloh wondered what had happened while he was unconscious, and what had caused the gunslinger’s fear.
Shiloh winced as the gunslinger prodded at his wounds, feeling the sting of pain shoot through his body. The air was thick with the scent of stale smoke and cheap perfume, and he could hear the muffled sounds of laughter and moaning coming from the other rooms.
“What was that thing?” Shiloh asked, still feeling groggy from his fainting spell. “All I remember was that I needed to get home and… then I was attacked… I barely remember anything else… I just know that before it felt like something was watching me.”
The gunslinger didn’t respond, but his movements were softer, his thumbs calloused but the warmth exuding from his flesh made Shiloh feel calm. “Be careful. Next time I won’t be around. Why didn’t you shift?”
Shiloh swallowed around the knot in his throat and turned away. “It doesn’t matter… that thing… I’ve never seen anything like it… it—wasn’t a wolf?”
“Not in the sense that you or I would call one.” The gunslinger looked up at him, his eyes sparking with barely suppressed rage. That’s when Shiloh looked at his throat and noticed three long scars. They looked like they had been carved by the sharp talons of a predatory bird, or as if a pack of wild beasts had clawed at his throat.
“Do you—” Shiloh’s throat went dry. “Know what it is?”
“Yes, and I’m going to be the one to kill it.”
