Drew: Love the photos. Can’t wait to watch on TV.
Noah: Probably not until next year. Maybe we can watch together.
Drew: I’d like that a lot. Clothing optional.
Noah: Naked nature film watching. New kink?
Drew: Only with you.
Noah: Good thing. I miss you.
Drew: Call?
Noah: Rob drove out to meet me for dinner and got stuck with the storm. He’s staying over. So unless you want an audience—
Drew: I’m not really into performance porn. I guess you’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to hear about how I want to suck your cock and swallow every drop or how I want to ride your dick until you’re fucked senseless and I come all over you.
Noah: Damn, Drew. Now I’ve got a boner and no way to take care of it.
Drew: Heh, heh, heh. My nefarious plan worked. You’ll think of me tonight.
Noah: I was going to dream about you anyhow.
Drew: I’ll dream about you too. Sleep well, be safe, and come back soon. You matter to me.
Noah : I promise. You matter to me. Sleep tight.
He stared at the phone without moving after Drew’s last comment.
Rob cleared his throat. “Done sexting? Because it’s after one in the morning, and we both have big days tomorrow.”
“Fuck—that late already? I used to stay up until dawn all the time in college. Why does it hurt worse now?”
Rob laughed. “Because we’re closer to thirty than twenty. Getting old.”
Noah knew that being sleep-deprived would only make the next day more miserable. He also understood from experience that the list of tasks stretched endlessly, and he would never be completely done.
“Okay. I just need to program my remote cameras and then lights out.”
“Remote cameras?” Rob got up and walked to the table, looking at the screen over Noah’s shoulder.
“I can control the perimeter cameras from my computer—as long as the signal doesn’t crap out. It’s not a perfect system, but even if I can’t reach the cameras, they still record, and I can check what they’re seeing from anywhere. Hence the ‘remote’ part.”
Rob shook his head in amazement. “You’ve got a huge investment in equipment.”
“Tell me about it. This is why I don’t have a down payment for a condo.”
“What’s your next assignment?” Rob added a little more whiskey to his cup.
“I’ve got some PBS projects, a film for a conservancy, and a documentary I plan to enter for a shot at an award,” Noah replied, “And when I visit Drew, I thought I might check in with the guy who handles the Fox Institute’s video and see if they need a freelancer. Can’t hurt.”
“That’s impressive. I’ve seen your videos online, and I might even have watched one of your documentaries. Good stuff.”
“Thanks,” Noah replied, touched that his friend made the effort. “Hopefully it didn’t send you straight to sleep.”
“Nah. It was fun watching how you turn this,” Rob gestured at the cameras and computer, “into a show that keeps your attention. You’ve got talent.”
Noah readied his gear and bag so he could make a quick departure to the clearing where he was taping tomorrow morning. He still had the hotel room for another day and night, so he’d be able to come back for a hot shower and a few hours in a warm bed before getting on the road. Noah accepted another pour from the bottle when Rob offered and left just the laptop open so he could monitor the night vision cameras if he couldn’t sleep.
