Just a little Love Bite: After a vampire stumbles upon a bleeding, unconscious human, he makes one of the rashes decisions of his life.
As much as Julian Allard has enjoyed the trip to Las Vegas, he’s more than ready to head home. While on vacation, his coven master, Jean-Paul, found his beloved—the other half of his soul—making his task of security that much harder. Julian wants to get Jean-Paul and his human, Saul, home to the safety of their territory.
At the airport, Julian feels the need to do one more sweep of the area. Never second-guessing his instincts, he does just that. Near the back of the hangar, Julian sees a human backhand another, who’s handling a baggage cart. The smell of the fallen human’s blood draws Julian, and he rushes to his side, scaring away the unconscious man’s attacker.
A quick taste of the human’s blood confirms Julian’s suspicions. The pretty red-haired human is his beloved. Acting on impulse, Julian sweeps the human into his arms and rushes him onto their private jet. Even as Julian cares for his unconscious new and forever love, can he figure out a way to explain, well… everything?
REVIEW:
Note: While this is the 31st book in this series, it can be read as a standalone. However, for context on Jean-Paul and Saul, book 29 contains their story.
Julian and Jean-Paul have been in Las Vegas on business/vacation and Jean-Paul has found his Beloved, Saul. Vacation over, they are ready to return to their coven in France. They do not fly commercial 😉 so while they are getting ready to leave in their private yet, Julian witnesses and assault on the baggage guy. The attacker knocks him out and when Julian arrives, he runs away. But the blood of the hurt man calls to Julian. After a taste of his blood (he’s got a head injury that is bleeding) Julian realizes that the man is his beloved. He carries him onto the plane and they leave for France.
The unconscious man comes to, but keeps his eyes closed and can hear other talking. Although his French isn’t very good, he can understand some things – like vampire. He is aware that vampires are real so he doesn’t really freak out about that. But leaving the States on a plane with them? Well he’s not sure about that. Turns out he is aware of paranormals, but his education has some pretty big holes and misconceptions. Julian has to do some fast talking and correct some of what the man, Teason, has been told.
The group arrives in France. They spend some time in Paris and both Saul and Teason are amazed. Also Teason, while nervous at first, wants to bond with Julian now that he understands about mates, the bonding process and what it will mean to his future. He’s struggled a lot in the past and he’s really happy to have this opportunity with a banging hot vampire 😉 Unfortunately there are some who are not too happy about this turn of events with Jean-Paul and Julian finding their mates and all the men will have to work together to root out the bad apples.
So this book basically picks up where Enchanted by a Vampire leaves off. I that book Jean-Paul and Saul meet and are bonded and Jean-Paul saves the day. Julian, his head enforcer is the vampire he has been traveling with and who has their backs. Then he finds his mate just as they are leaving Las Vegas 😉 He swoops in and saves Teason from an unwarranted attack by a horrible co-worker and they jet off to France. His past is sort of devastating to Julian as Teason has been abandoned by the one parent he has and his intro to paranormals was less than stellar. Luckily Jean-Paul and Julian are able to set the record straight and Teason couldn’t be happier. There is unexpected trouble and we know why Jean-Paul is the coven master for sure. There is a lovely glimpse of France here as well. Recommended especially for fans of this series and Charlie’s particular brand and formula of paranormal romance too! It’s a short and sweet addition to this series.
Well at least we’ll always have Paris 😉
