Liam
When my best friend Shaun invited me to that party, I wasn’t expecting to meet anyone. I wasn’t expecting to meet the hottest man I’d ever seen in my life there. I sure as hell wasn’t expecting to have one of the hottest hookups of my life with him that night.
It was a one night stand. I didn’t even get his name. He was just the Birthday Boy.
But the universe loves to get in a good laugh at my expense. That’s the only thing I can think of, because it turns out Birthday Boy? He’s Shaun’s new boyfriend’s older brother.
Reed
I didn’t even want to have that stupid birthday party, but my little brother, Benji, insisted on throwing it and making me the guest of honor. At least the guys were hot, especially him.
We hooked up and that was supposed to be it. One and done. Hit it and quit it. Wham, bam, thank you Sam.
But its never just one night, right? Especially when he keeps popping up. And then I had the brilliant idea of planning a party with him for Benji and his boyfriend’s birthdays.
He was supposed to be Mr. Right Now, but the more time we spend together, the more I wonder if he might just be Mr. Right.
REVIEW:
Liam gets sort of dragged to a birthday party by his best friend Shaun. There he hooks up with a hot guy. Turns out his hookup was the guest of honor at the birthday party 😉 They didn’t even exchange names and figure it’s a one time thing. Not so fast 😀
It turns out that the birthday boy’s name is Reed and he is the older brother of Shaun’s new boyfriend Ben. Oops! In spite of not thinking they’d ever see each other again, it turns out that Liam and Reed seem to spend more time together than they ever imagined. That time is mostly spent as friends. But things start to change. And maybe they are more than friends?
This was a super cute debut novel. It’s low angst with a good amount of steam. I really enjoyed the friends to lovers/slow burn aspect of the story. Because the story is told from alternating POVs, we get to know what Liam and Reed are thinking 😉 The secondary characters are a great part of Reed and Liam’s worlds as well – particularly Shaun and Ben of course. I thought the pacing was good, there was plenty of humor and personality in this book. My only small niggle was the time jump between the end of the story and the epilogue, but it doesn’t really detract from the story. The writing style was fun and smooth and I look forward to more from this author. Recommended.
