LENGTH: 89 pages
RELEASE DATE: May 23, 2023
BLURB:
Gryphon shifter Marc is back in his home in the LaSalles, working on his charity foundation and trying not to be jealous of his brother Quint, who finally found someone to love after centuries alone. He’s so wrapped up in business that it comes as a great shock when an old friend shows up at his home asking for a favor before she dies. Take care of her son, who is one of the rarest shifters in the world. A unigriff.
Traian doesn’t want to be trouble, but his whole world has been turned upside down. Both of his parents are lost to him, and he’s been torn away from his home. The one good thing in the whole mess is meeting Marc, who he knows is special right away. But being part unicorn means everyone wants his magic, and they’ll use violence to get it. So he doesn’t want to lose Marc as well.
When an attack comes to their door, Marc’s triplet siblings come to help, and they all face dangers they never believed possible while Marc and Traiain forge a new love. Can they survive the threat to their very existence?
The Gryphon’s Prize ends with a fully realized romance, but a partial cliffhanger for the final book in the series.
REVIEW:
I finally get to return to the gryphon triplets that wormed themselves into my heart. These boys, if you can call them that at their age, have waited what seems like an eternity for their chance at love and finding their mates.
Marc is the sensual and flirty one of the triplets. He is also head of the charity foundation that gives to causes they deem needed and protect what needs to be protected. When his long lost friend and family friend Antonia reaches out in desperate need he is curiously awaiting her arrival. But when the gryphon rushes into his place all bruised and beat up his hackles immediately raise. In her dying breaths she pleads with Marc to protect her son. Tarian, a unigriff, half gryphon/half unicorn, has just lost both his parents and is immediate danger. He blames himself for attracting danger that results in both their violent and senseless deaths. But his mother had assured him that he would be safe. But as soon as the two held hands it was obvious that there was something more than mere chemistry…MATE!
Okay a bit of an ewww factor for me if I am reading this right. Antonia knew their whole family. And she is Tarian’s mom. But it sounds like Marc and her “had been friends, occasionally more than”. If I’m reading this right then Marc and Antonia had possibly hooked up before she and Tarian’s dad, a unicorn, got together. And now Marc and Traian are fate mates?
All that being out there, I really liked Marc and Traian together. They worked! And adding a unigriff to their family works. Plus I really, really liked how Max and Traian meshed so well immediately. The had a camaraderie that worked. I couldn’t imagine mating with one of the triplets with their bond. Having someone else to understand what you are going through and being of mixed blood would make things much better. Having someone, other than your mate, to understand how it feels was brilliant. I’m hoping Roman’s mate (is it the dragon or possibly dracogryph that was bespelled) bonds with these two also.
If you know me at all you know that I am not a fan of cliffhangers. At least this one wasn’t a huge one. But I was so excited to get my hands on this book that I didn’t even read the blurb so it caught me off guard. But that being said, I dread having to wait clear until August to find out what happens. I guess the phrase absence makes the heart grow fonder comes to mind.
