As a teen, Drake ran away and found the Black Cat Circus, he thought it was his ticket out of town. Instead, he found a family and discovered a magical world he never knew existed. Becoming the Daredevil was a perfect fit for him and the adrenaline-loving beast within.
Now, ten years later, he’s returning to the town he left as a kid and it’s stirring up a lot of emotions. A shy but sweet man with a camera captures his attention completely. Even Drake’s dragon craves him.
Eli is a journalist who hides behind a camera and his words as he records the world he lives in but rarely takes part in it. He gets assigned the traveling circus that comes to town, when he longs to do something more meaningful.
When Eli meets the Daredevil, everything changes. He’s drawn to the fearless man, but there’s something familiar about him too. Drake reminds him of a wild boy he crushed on in school.
Eli embraces the adventure as Drake pushes him out of his comfort zone, but as these two grow closer, it becomes harder for Drake to hide who he is. Can Eli accept a man with a soul of a dragon?
The Daredevil is a missed connection, opposites attract, paranormal MM romance with light exhibitionism. It is part of the Black Cat Circus multi-author series that features found family and a magical cast of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but is better enjoyed as a series.
REVIEW:
Oh my goodness gracious what a magical and intriguing series! I love it!!!
Drake left home ten years ago. Well home is a stretch of the word. Drake grew up in foster homes in the small California town until he turned 18 and Seven found him and gave home a home and a found family in the Black Cat Circus. Now, ten years later, he dreads the return. But Seven, his closest and dearest friend, assures him all will be well and he might “find something there that you need.” So when the cute red headed reporter comes to do a story on their circus in town he is intrigued by the man that smells like toasted marshmallows. Eli just wants to be taken seriously. He’s a journalist but he knows his true talent is behind the lens of a camera. When his boss assigns him a “fluff” piece on the circus coming to town he is disappointed again that he is dismissed. But watching the performers is magical and The Daredevil is unbelievable. As fated would see fit, on the way back to town that night a black cat with a white heart causes Eli to wreck his car and lose his phone. When the mysterious Drake, the daredevil himself, comes to his rescue he somehow knows that he is safe even if he is deathly afraid of motorcycles. But can a meek journalist that blushes at the drop of a hat and a seemingly “bad-boy” circus performer who has a secret work?
Sweet Eli. No wonder Drake fell for him. Even with out the whole fated mates thing Drake said he couldn’t be without him. He was so precious and didn’t understand his appeal. And he was perfect for Drake yet Drake was the one to lead Eli to try new adventures he never would have without him. Whether is was a high speed crotch rocket ride or high in the sky on a Ferris whee, both of which he was terrified of, Eli trusted Drake to keep him safe. And Drake would do anything for his sweet Marshmallow.
I am loving the side characters of the circus. I am eager for both Coal and Brighton’s stories but long to hear all the secrets of Seven. These magical beings are so intriguing.
I want to make sure you understand that we have magical creatures in these stories but there haven’t been any actual shifting. Drake is dragon-borne we are told. His dragon lives inside him. He is the descendent of a dragon shifter but doesn’t have the capabilities to shift like his ancestor did hence the fact that the dragon is an intricate part of him and lives within him. And his tattoo is also magical. That part was sure cool and creative. But I admit I would have been even more freaked out that Eli was.
That cat Peanut, he is a very interesting character that I really need the scoop on! He shows up a just the right moment and manipulates the beings around him to follow his lead. I can’t wait to hear what his story is!
I am truly entranced by this magical and intriguing series and can’t wait to get to the next book. The blurb says that you can read these as standalones but each story is woven together so you get to know the whole circus found family. A must-read!
