Ruler of the Waves by Aiden Ainslie
Love at Lake Clyde Series, Book 3
A cute doctor in a small town
Tyler: All I ever wanted was to be a good doctor and serve the community I had grown up in. And I wanted a loving husband to share my dream of a house with a picket fence, two children and a dog. Was that so much to ask of life? Why was it so difficult to find that man?
A moody bad boy with an insatiable wanderlust
Rickie: All I ever wanted was the freedom to sail the oceans, taste salt on my lips and feel sea spray on my face. So when Tyler Matthews offers me the chance of a week’s sailing at Nantucket, I agree to go with him. The only snag – we have to convince his snooty friends that we are boyfriends. How difficult can that be? Tyler is a good friend, I know him. Surely we can pull this off.
The only danger I did not foresee was that all my dreams could be derailed if my heart became entangled with the cute doctor who is rooted to the soil like a giant sequoia.
Can love find a way to bridge the ocean-sized chasm between two men who do not appear to be destined for each other? Read the latest book in the Love at Lake Clyde series. A delicious fake boyfriend romance with many unexpected twists and turns.

I got a pair of binoculars from my van and walked to the end of the dock to watch the Hobie Cat racing across the lake. It was Tyler! Without a life vest on. Fuck! A terrible sense of foreboding crawled up my spine. This was so unlike Tyler.
That’s when the Hobie flipped.
I kicked off my shoes, ditched the binoculars, and sprinted to fetch my paddleboard. Within seconds, I was rowing into the gathering dusk. The wind whipped up waves and threatened to blow me off course, but I gritted my teeth and kept my eyes on the Hobie. It looked like Tyler tried to right the boat, but the wind smacked the sail down onto the water. One hull was underwater; the other appeared to hang in midair as the vessel drifted aimlessly. The sail, together with the mast, was lying flat – the wind pressing it down onto the waves.
“Turn it,” I muttered, “turn it so the wind can pick up the sail for you.”
I waited for Tyler to try again, but the Hobie just drifted. Shit! What if he was hurt, unconscious? I ignored the burn in my shoulders, gripped the paddle harder, and pounded into the water as though the furies of hell were breathing down my neck. It was becoming harder to see the boat in the gloom.
“Dammit, Tyler. Do something!”
When I finally reached the boat, there was no sign of Tyler. I scanned the scene. Nothing. Just the drifting boat. Fuck, no… surely, this couldn’t be happening, not again! Memories came flooding. I was eighteen years old, at the height of my surfing career, tackling the big waves at Mavericks. A surfer buddy was knocked out when a sneaker wave tossed him and the board whacked his head. I had been the first to reach him and drag him to shore, but it was too late. It happened so quickly and I couldn’t resuscitate him.
“Tyler!” I yelled as ice coursed down my spine. “Tyler! Where are you?!”
The bad recollections just kept coming. The clouds, the water, the limp, heavy body of my friend. In my mind, I could see his cold blue lips. I was numb. All I heard was the wind.
“Tyler!” I yelled again, careering toward the Hobie. “Tyyyleeeer!”
A small voice answered from somewhere behind the hull, “Here. I’m here.”
Thank God! He’s alive.
I dove into the water and swam to him. He was holding onto the submerged hull, drifting along with his head barely above the water. His face was so pale, his lips blue.
“Ty!” I shook him. “Come on, buddy. You’ve got to help me right this thing. We can do it together.”
