When opposites attract, falling in love can feel like a wild goose chase.
I know it’s wrong to check out my best friend’s twin brother. It’s definitely against the bro code to shove my tongue down his throat. Screw it, one little passionate, sun-soaked, all-consuming fling won’t hurt anything. Will it?
Pete doesn’t think he’s fit for island life, but he doesn’t know Palm Island like I do. He might think it’s all drinking on the beach and bed-hopping, but maybe if I can show him the beauty and freedom underneath it all, he might decide to stay.
He came for a visit to escape a bad breakup and a life that’s been closing in on him, but the island doesn’t lure anyone in on accident.
He might be all wrong for me: too careful, too neat, too structured. But I can’t seem to keep my hands off of him. Maybe I could use a little more structure in my life, and maybe Pete could use some chaos.
Will this fling wash away with the rising tide of spring, or could this turn into the real thing?
This is a super swoony, steamy low-angst opposites-attract best-friend’s-twin-brother M/M romance full of found family, island shenanigans, and beachy fun.
.REVIEW:
Note: This is the fourth book in the series and contains major spoilers for the previous books. That said I guess it can work as a standalone, but I think is best enjoyed in order 😉
Pete has broken up with his boyfriend and needs a change. So he sends an email that he’s taking his pile of vacation that he’s accrued and he’s off to visit his brother on Palm Island, the gay resort where he lives and works. He’s a bit apprehensive, but he needs a change.
Goose sees who he things is his best friend Hen on the beach. Then he’s at a get together and brings his bestie a drink but gets a strange reaction. Then suddenly there are two of them! What the heck? Surprise! He forgot Hen was a twin and he’s a little freaked out that he’s kind of been attracted to his very much taken bestie, but now it turns out it was Pete 😉 You can already see where this is headed.
Goose spends a lot of time with Pete – showing him the island, etc. As they grow closer, it’s clear there is an attraction. And maybe this is what Pete needs – a holiday fling to get him out his funk. He leads a VERY buttoned up life back in Wisconsin and he needs a break. And Goose happens to have a spare room which saves Pete from having to spend his nights on his brother’s couch listening to him and his boyfriend 😉 Really could it be any easier??
There is the usual shenanigans of the guys – Storm and Hen, Angel and Devil, Ten and Bambi and Trick and Boston are all together and living their best lives. Raven continues to confound with his psychic abilities 😀 And of course Harold is still up to his ghostly tricks. Pete and Goose are a little worried about how Hen is going to react to their changing relationship – but seems they really didn’t need to 😉
This is such a fun series. In this installment we have an opposites attract situation with Hen’s twin brother Pete showing up for a surprised holiday visit. The offseason is definitely different for this group of locals but they continue to have a good time just with each other. The holidays are a different time and Goose is happy to be back with his island family after visiting his bio family. Pete really needed to shake things loose and this trip is just what the doctor ordered. He’s getting out of his head and he’s having fun despite his germaphobic ways. Goose is really good for him and in return he’s good for Goose who has been hoping that he’d find a partner like a bunch of his friends have been lucky enough to receive. He really gets Pete and he helps him in more ways than he even knows. They provide the balance they each need and manage to figure things out.
Iggy Toma does his usual stellar job narrating the story. Both characters experience some highs and lows and Mr. Toma does a great job of pulling on the heartstrings with them. The voices are so consistent from book to book in this series which I really appreciate. I felt Pete’s anxiety and Goose’s trepidation about pursuing his bestie’s brother so much in this performance. This is why this narrator is a go to for me. Highly recommended.
