Little does he know, there’s someone at the end of the line that may end up giving him a second chance at both life and love.
LIAM
Liam is tired of living his sad bachelor life. In an attempt to move on from his meaningless hookups, he changes his phone number. When he suddenly starts getting texts from “Jules”, he’s delighted by his instant connection to the amiable stranger. Maybe this happy accident could turn into the happily ever after he’s been looking for.
The Right Wrong Number is an MM romance. It’s a story of second chances, healing, and finding love again.
REVIEW:
Jules is so believable mired in the grief of losing his husband. His bestie Nora as well as his mother are keeping him existing, but he’s not ready to face the world. The tough love from Nora finally shakes him loose a little and he begins texting his deceased husband’s phone. Then he receives a response to his texts – the number has been recycled and he’s been texting a guy named Liam. Liam seems cool though and so they keep texting.
Liam is a computer programmer who has gotten pretty bored with his life. He’s got a friend Oscar who sees himself as a player. He likes to party and hookup and he thinks he and Liam are on the same page, but they so aren’t. Liam feels a little guilty about the text he received from someone who has lost their husband, so he texts back to “Jules” who he assumes is a woman. He tries to lift the mood and provide some solace. And then he starts fantasizing about this potential woman and how well they’ve connected. They decide to meet in person and he finds out that “Jules” is a man when he gets a picture so he knows who he’s meeting.
Jules takes the news well that Liam thought he’d been talking to a woman and that he’s not gay. At least he’s actually gotten out of the house and met a real person for the first time in a year. They agree to maybe trying to be friends. But then Liam has some really mixed feelings about this. I mean they sexted and he also doesn’t like hearing that someone else hit on Jules. But he’s never considered being with a man. He even tries to see if maybe he’s attracted to other guys – but nope. Seems like it’s just Jules. He’s sort of freaked out – but he really really likes Jules.
Jules is still heartbroken, but he thinks he might have space in his heart for Liam. Liam has a couple of missteps that make Jules doubt him. Thankfully Nora and others have his back. They truly do belong together 🙂
So this book is from a new to me author and it looks like it’s her first book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of grief/loss and recovery and grabbing a second chance. I absolutely loved Jules and Liam and Nora and the moms too! I felt so bad for Jules. Poor Liam was just so confused about what the heck he was doing, but he recognized that Jules was something really special and works to try to win him 🙂 Oscar even redeemed himself in the end. This was such a cute and fun story! I laughed out loud and I loved Fishsticks sooooo much! Really engaging storytelling and lots of hearts and humor and lovely HEA! Highly recommended and I can’t wait for more from this author.
