Bedroom eyes, that’s the name my mom gave them. Before I travelled to the UK, she issued me plenty of warnings: don’t look the wrong way when crossing the road, the first floor was the second floor, and no one would know what I meant if I asked for ranch dressing at a restaurant.
But the perils of shy, beautiful men like Tristan Carter? Men with walking canes and hearing aids and those damned bedroom eyes, hidden behind a curtain of silky blond hair?
She forgot to tell me anything about those. And I messed up badly. Monumentally. The kind of misjudgment that had me waking in a cold sweat, wanting to catch the next flight back to my pampered college life in the US. Except I couldn’t, seeing as I’d messed up there too.
So I stayed. I got a job, grew up, and learned some harsh life lessons. Worked out what I wanted to do with my future. Drank warm beer, chilled with my big brother. Ferried Tristan Carter across London. Helped him in and out of the car. Goofed around with him. Tumbled headlong in love with him.
Bedroom eyes. I’m an absolute sucker for those.
REVIEW:
Oh boy, Tristan and Dominic have a spectacular first encounter.
Twenty-one-year-old Dominic fucked up grandly, and to make it up, his brother Lysander ordered him to drive Tristan to and from his work and possibly other locations.
Tristan is twenty-five, and Frankie’s brother (one of a triple see Frankie’s story, book one) he lives with him and Lysander his fiancé, in a luxurious apartment, with a floor for himself. He needs assistance, sometimes, because of his CP cerebral palsy, he also got a hearing device, without it he’s deaf.
He looks maybe vulnerable and shy but don’t underestimate him.
Dominic’s head is the clouds, well mostly, it’s not where a responsible St. Cloud boarding member should be, he misses his life in San Diego, his friends, the parties, the hookups. But he did wrong there and his dad has to make it right, money can do that, but Dominic had to leave and turn to the UK for a while, he can’t wait to go back.
Their start was bad, but it’s getting better, spending more time together. Dominic’s heart simply can’t handle an amazing man like Tristan. He can’t stay away from him, and wonder about how his lips would feel. He can’t help himself. He got feelings, he’s jealous when he noticed he’s not the only one swooning over Tristan. If only he knew about the dirty thoughts going around in Tristan’s head and all about him.
“I always thought clothes picked themselves up. Turns out it was my mom all along! Who’d have thought?”
Dominic was such an endearing playful guy, pushy and excusing for it, thoughtless and excusing, impulsive and excusing, he’s so darn sweet with Tristan. He can’t help himself, he’s over his ears.
Tristan feels it too, only, knowing Dominic, he will be gone in a couple of months and won’t look back. He can’t trust his heart with Dominic. Bodily pleasures only.
That was an extraordinary story, I loved how Tristan and Dominic’s characters were created. I loved their characteristics, they are flawed, adorable, and sweet. It felt so right.
The way Tristan’s CP and hearing disability were presented and how he dealt with it was awesome, just as how Dominic approached him, open, honest, and improvising.
The friends are amazing, fun, honest, and very supportive. Frankie and Lysander were emphatically present, as they should be. Altogether a fun, adorable and exceptional read, I loved dearly.
