I love writing and reading angsty. While I want my HEA, I like the MCs having to work for it as their happy ending is much more satisfying that way.
Angst comes in many forms, and although I’ve written it where it’s been caused by misunderstandings within a relationship, I prefer outside forces beyond their control to be the main culprit.
My Echoes Rising series, set in Europe during WWII, has angst in spades. Very early on I decided the couples needed to be separated for a good portion of the second book. These are dangerous times in more ways than one, and there’s nothing like not knowing if the person you love has survived to make a reunion so much sweeter.
Angst also highlights the strong character of a person as they force themselves to keep going, only showing their true fears and vulnerability with those they trust.
The entire Echoes Rising series is on sale this month, so if you haven’t read the series yet, or need to finish reading this is a great opportunity to do so.
And if you’re looking for more angst…
Shadowboxing is part of this month’s angst promotion which runs from 14-24 April.
