Rhys O’Connell doesn’t intend to stay in Sodden Tewsbury. On the run from a dark past, the only way he feels safe is to keep moving. But when a violent attack leaves him injured, he’s forced to accept help from the gorgeous ginger giant who runs the local tattoo shop—the same man Rhys has been secretly crushing on—and he soon finds himself falling further for Simon. But can Rhys trust Simon to accept the side of him that he has been forced to keep hidden—the part that loves colouring and soft toys, the part he barely understands himself?
Simon Johansen’s life is busy. Between running Viking Ink, his tattoo shop, and spending time with friends and family he doesn’t have time to go looking for romance—and after his last relationship ended disastrously, he’s not sure he wants to. But he can’t help but be attracted to the shy, pretty boy who busks in the town square, and when a chance arises to take the lad under his wing, he doesn’t hesitate. Rhys is everything Simon’s ever wanted in a baby boy—but will he accept Simon as his Daddy?
With outside forces closing in and Rhys’s past chasing him down, they’ll have to fight for their happy ending.
This book is an MM Age Play/ Age Regression romance between consenting adults.
REVIEW:
Rhys is a boy who needs a daddy, even if he’s not sure how it all works.
Simon needs a boy, even if he thinks he doesn’t have the time to find one.
It’s obvious these two men are meant for each other!
Rhys is a character that is really easy to love. He sweet and kind, despite all the trauma he’s been through. He’s also a lot stronger than he gives himself credit for.
Simon is a gentle giant, a natural born care taker who longs for a boy to calls his own.
This is an enjoyable read although I will admit it may be triggering for some with issues about abuse. It’s not my usual trope but I like to step out of my comfort zone once in a while. This author has done a great job of creating characters in a story that help showcase the lifestyle they lead in the best possible way. I give them kudos for that.
I enjoyed the interactions with other side characters from Simon’s side of the story. Doc is funny and interesting and I love Rhys’ interactions with Simon’s family.
Of course Rhys’ family are the villian of the story and they are really and truly unlikeable in every way.
The storyline itself offers no real surprises and to be honest, I would have enjoyed a little more angst to dial up the sweetness in the end.
If you are looking for an age play story to get you started in the genre, this would definitely be a good starter book. Who knows, you might end up learning a little something about yourself!
This story doesn’t really stand out for me, other than the pluses I’ve already mentioned. It was a quick read for me, with likeable characters and it managed to keep my attention long enough to finish it. I do appreciate the detail the author put into world building. I think I would like to visit the little town they’ve created.
All in all, it was pretty good and while it won’t go into my “to be read again” pile, I will defnitely keep my eye open for books by this author.
