When opposites attract, falling in love can feel like a Wild Goose Chase.
I know it’s wrong to check out my best friend’s twin brother. It’s definitely against the bro code to shove my tongue down his throat. Screw it, one little passionate, sun soaked, all-consuming fling won’t hurt anything. Will it?
Pete doesn’t think he’s fit for island life, but he doesn’t know Palm Island like I do. He might think it’s all drinking on the beach and bed hopping, but maybe if I can show him the beauty and freedom underneath it all, he might decide to stay.
He came for a visit, to escape a bad breakup and a life that’s been closing in on him, but the island doesn’t lure anyone in on accident.
He might be all wrong for me; too careful, too neat, too structured. But I can’t seem to keep my hands off of him. Maybe I could use a little more structure in my life, and maybe Pete could use some chaos.
Will this fling wash away with the rising tide of spring or could this turn into the real thing?
REVIEW:
This is book 4 in the Palm Island series. A group of friends who met each other on the island when they first set out to only have a short vacation but all ended up leaving their previous lives and starting a new one on the island. A group of friends who, along the years, ending up finding the other halves of their lives and getting their happily-ever-afters.
In this instalment we meet Pete, Hennessy’s twin brother, who has been living in their hometown in Wisconsin, is the opposite of Henry when it comes down right to it. He is orderly, plans way ahead of time and is hygienic to the point of immediately washing his hands (and body) when he touches something that has been touch by a lot of people before him. He can’t help it, he is just like that (or is he?), When he decided one day to pack a few changes of clothes and visit his brother on the island, it was something that Pete has never done before, do something impetuous.
Goose has been on the island for a few years now but while his friends have found the loves of their lives, he still hasn’t. Some days he is okay with that, but lately he has been feeling “alone,” in the sense that he is surrounded by his friends who are in love with their men, and happily too. He wants something like that. Seeing his best friend on his way back from visiting his family, he was surprised to suddenly find Henry attractive to him. When he found out that it wasn’t Henry he saw upon his arrival but Pete, Henry’s twin, he was sort of relieved because he knew he wasn’t attracted to his best friend, even before.
When order encounters chaos it should have been disaster right? But when it comes to Pete/RePete/RePeat and Goose, it just makes them perfect for each other. Well of course there were doubts within themselves and second-guessing but I guess, as I am sure Harold would agree, when two people are meant for each other, circumstances will make it happen somehow.
I love Ms. K.M. Neuhold, I love her writing style, her characters are amazing, smart, funny, down-to-earth guys who are living their lives the way it makes them happy. Some of them had to make tough decisions about their previous lives in order to reach their current one. Some of them had to contend with discontentment expressed by family members, but ultimately it is their lives, their happiness. Life is too short to live, we have to make sure it is the one we want.
If you have not read Ms. K.M. Neuhold before, it is high time you do. She is amazing!
