Maxie has left Florida to come back home to help his newly-widowed mother. He’s found a fantastic law firm to work for, and while celebrating, Derek, a hot silver fox to warm his bed. Or possibly the other way around. It’s been one of those nights.
There wasn’t supposed to be brunch the next day. Maxie was never supposed to see Derek again. The course of supposedly uncomplicated one-night stands, however, does not always run smoothly.
The following romance novella contains:
- One sparkly twink. He wears make-up, and there are panties under his bespoke suits. Be careful, he’s a lawyer.
- One GenX aging gay silver fox with a terrible ex (may he rot in hell) and a taste for pretty men.
- A loyal, if bossy, best friend.
- Banter for days.
- A defiled dildo.
- Gobs of hot sex.
- Pastry theft.
- Eomma.
- Suit porn.
Probably a HEA if these guys ever get their act together….
REVIEW:
Whew! I had to fan myself several times reading this book. For those who have read Lynn Van Dorn’s Chicago based North Shore Stories series and her Florida based Chronicles of Oleander series, several characters are key to this new crossover work. Maxie is Jacob Goldman’s best friend and is introduced in the first Chronicles book and plays a larger part in the second Chronicles book which focuses on Jacob as MC. Derek, the other MC of this book, works with Ryan Chadwick, who is introduced in the first North Shore story and is MC in the second book. That being said, this works fine as a standalone.
Maxie is out with his sister after he has returned to Chicago to support his mother after his father died. He gets a new job at a new law firm and it out celebrating. His sister gets very drunk and as they are getting ready to leave, a big guy picks Maxie up and presents him to his friend Derek as a birthday present 🙂 Derek is a silver fox that Maxie doesn’t actually mind being paired up with. He goes home with him and they are more than compatible 😉
Fast forward to Monday and who should be the lawyer in the office next door? That’s right. Derek. Maxie and Derek then have to negotiate their work relationship because it’s clear there is very hot chemistry between them. Maxie isn’t interested in a relationship however. He’s been burned and he’s not interested in being hurt again. In fact, he doesn’t even do seconds. Except that he does with Derek . And that scares him to death. He runs. Derek tries to pursue. There is a minor misunderstanding and Maxie has to grown up. Hot hot hot.
Michael Ferraiuolo does an outstanding job with this narration. His character continuity from the previous two series is amazing. Maxie and Jacob and Ryan are like old friends visits in this one. There is plenty of hot and sexy times and some come to the deity of your choice moments that this narrator handles with his usual style and perfection. Another hit for this author/narrator combo. Loved it. Highly recommended. And a clear shout out to the wonderfully voices Maxie who will not hide his shine.
