As a cat shifter, I was a brilliant reporter. I got the scoops no human could sniff out. It was a lonely-small town life, but my career was everything.
My boss sent me to investigate the new bookstore in town. Was the owner, “Ethan Bourne,” actually the famous novelist E. Borneo, who’d just been outed as an alpha?
I could smell his alpha pheromones. It was my omega time of the year. Things happened. And now we’re expecting — but I’m doubting I can expect anything from this out-of-town alpha I barely know.
Before I met Ethan, I never dared to dream of fatherhood. Now I quit my job and gave up my room at my family’s farmhouse so I could raise the baby I’m carrying. I’m daring to dream of a new life with my beloved Ethan — but everyone says I’m just dreaming.
Ethan
Hiding out anonymously in Knotting Hill was the plan, until I met Max: the accomplished journalist, the cat rescuer, the gorgeous omega who stepped into my bookstore with all his omega heat pheromones blazing.
I never thought I’d be a father. Max and his mom still think I can’t handle it, but I’m determined to prove them wrong. I just don’t know if I can handle being rejected by them, after in New York I was thrown away by my parents, my readers, and even my landlord.
I love Knotting Hill. I love Max too. I want to be the perfect alpha mate, but will Max and his family finally start to trust me?
Secret Cat Shifter Omega is a 60,000-word shifter mpreg romance with a hard-won HEA and an adorable baby. May contain bacon banana oatmeal, feline snark, stolen salmon, and a pottymouthed teenage sister.
REVIEW:
A new MPREG/shifter series by a new-to-me author.
Max is a very successful reporter with a couple secrets that help along the way. One is that he is secretly an omega. The other, which really helps out in his line of work, is that he is a shifter, a beautiful Persian cat shifter to be exact, that can just slip into places without anyone the wiser and get the scoop. And no one is the wiser. But when his boss sends him on his newest scoop life takes a distinct turn. Not only does the new bookstore owner appear to be the famous AO writer hiding in town but he is a very attractive alpha that sets Max into immediate heat!
I have never read a series where there are humans and then some of them are born as alphas or omegas, with the male omegas being born with an omega flap that facilitates them being able to give birth after the alpha impregnates them during their heat and knots them. Add into this that the human population does not approve of the AO population nor do they approve of shifters either. Not approve of is stating it mildly. Parents are known disown their children when they discover they are AO or shifters. And some are both. And society completely disses the AO and shifters. It’s okay to read steamy novels about them but it’s not to like or trust them if they discover you are one of them!
It took me a bit to understand the dynamics of how these groups operated and the distrust and shunning of those that were different. Part of it seems to be that this new “race”, for lack of a better term, was a fairly new occurrence. Males like Max getting pregnant by their alphas and giving birth had only been happening for about the lady fifty years. The omega flap was a brand-new and interesting twist for me in MPREG. As was this new evolving AO group.
I felt bad for Ethan. First he is disowned by his parents when they discover he is an AO. Then being outed and his career basically ruined by those same patrons who loved his AO books. Then falling for Max only to be disapproved again by Max’s mom. And he was such an honorable man who had been well regarded. It all seemed so unfair. But his character and integrity showed the true man he is. And Max. Who wouldn’t love Max? And his mother almost ruined everything for him in her blind hatred and distrust of men. I’m glad she evolved. And Lois was a hoot! But it was Max’s conviction, and Ethan’s too, that it didn’t matter if their little girl was going to have difficulties. She was going to be their sweet daughter and they would love her and take care of her needs no matter what challenges came along. And they took that very seriously. So you couldn’t help but love them both.
I guess the next book in the series is Max’s doctor and his favorite coffee shop’s owner. I look forward to their pairing.
