My power is seeing the darkness inside people, but can I learn how to use it to reveal our worst enemy?
This war is seriously getting on my nerves. It seems like every day there’s a new obstacle to overcome, but hopefully, it’s bringing us closer to the end of it all. But then what?
Living with the sexy vampire Geoffrey has me feeling all kinds of new things. On the surface, he’s kind and attentive, but underneath is a darker energy that intrigues me. I’ve always been drawn to what can’t be seen. I guess you could call it a gift, at least that’s what my aunt told me and my twin Jack.
When that gift shows up in a new way, a traitor is revealed, and Geoffrey and I become closer than ever. Now I’m learning how to be independent from my twin, how to love someone, and how to harness the power that’s been unleashed within me before our time runs out and the enemy wins. Piece of cake.
A Traitor Shows His Hand is an MM paranormal romance featuring a twin finding his individuality, a vampire with a dangerous backstory, a traitor giving the bad guy the upper hand, and a war that just won’t go away. It is book five of six in the Covens of Eaton Falls series starring Maverick and Geoffrey. Each book features a different couple with an ongoing conflict and therefore should be read in order.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the fifth book in this series and contains major spoilers for the previous books and builds directly on a common story arc. It is recommended to read the series in order 🙂
Jack and Maverick are two witches of the Coven of Eaton Falls and they have twin abilities – like they can have a conversation with out saying a word. They are connected. But they also have their individual powers and personalities. While Maverick and Geoffrey are the main couple in this story, we see plenty of Jack, Willem and Prince. Prince is still unconscious when the story opens, but he’s seems to be comforted by Jack’s presence. Willem and Jack and Prince are staying together at Willem’s while Maverick is staying with Geoffrey. Jack and Mav both are kind of struggling with their attraction to vampires after having been told that they are mortal enemies most of their lives. The fact that they are now allies and that so many of their friends/fellow witches are now mated to vampires and have been turned is still surprising to them and they are not convinced that this is the path for them. Geoffrey does his best to show his devotion to Maverick but there is just a whole lot on everybody’s plates.
There is a lot of action here because the Demons are constantly trying to vanquish the witches and vampires. There are sooo many surprises that we discover about “The Beautiful One” as well as a visit from an old friend in the beyond that also sheds a lot of light on what has happened to actually set off this war. We learn more about the whys and what the end game is. And of course, we discover who has been feeding information to the bad guys – hence the title of this book 😉 Mav’s ability to read dark energy and come into his power is a tipping point in this story. Mav’s powers save the day on more than one occasion. His pull to Geoffrey is something that he wants to pursue, but he’s really nervous about the consequences – and rightfully so. At the end of the day though, Maverick and Jack are finally learning how to live their lives without being together all the time. It’s a new world for them, but they have lots of support to help them navigate this new reality.
This was one of my favorites in the series. I really like Mav and Jack – both together and separately. Geoffrey is so supportive and understanding of Mav and his reluctance to change his life as he’s known it. He and Jack have not had it easy, but with Sylvia and the coven, their lives had been OK. Until this war when everything has gone a bit sideways. Mav is also confronted with changes in his powers and his ability to manipulate things in a way that he never saw coming. He feels some guilt over that, but it ultimately it saves him more than once and it can be harnessed as a powerful weapon for the good guys! A good deal of the motivation and reasons behind the war are finally revealed in this book as well as how the Demons are keeping one step ahead of our heroes. I cannot wait for the last book to see how all this will be resolved! This was definitely a satisfying episode in this ongoing saga and I definitely recommend to fans of paranormal romance with action and intrigue 🙂
