Dev Devilman Fox, the best ink slinger in town, is known for his sharp wit, angry fists and epically bad decisions. Becoming a lifelong patched member of the Disciples of Havoc MC at eighteen years old is probably the worst…but certainly not the only. When his hot new tenant catches his eye, Dev jumps in headfirst, ready to drive full throttle wherever that sexy road leads. That is until he finds himself on another hairpin turn, careening his life toward the closest brick wall.
Special Agent Cash Thomas has spent years undercover rooting out bad apples within various federal agencies. When his latest assignment brings him face to face with a sinfully tempting man from his past, his priorities shift on a dime. Now his reputation as a dedicated and focused field agent is in question. When faced with the opportunity to repay the man who once saved his life, smudging a few well-established lines is the least he’ll do.
When their paths collide can a bond from the past save their future or will it bury them under the chaos? Leathers might shield them from road rash, but they can’t protect them from heartbreak.
REVIEW:
Havoc and Order by Ms. Kindle Alexander is one of my favorite duets/books of all time. It spoke of true love and acceptance. It spoke of the rare chance of someone finding his true love, the One, the Reason! I know that Dev and Cash’s love story will be that and more!
Chaos is the third book in the series and it is also a duet, with the fourth book following soon. The book is about Devin “Devilman” Fox, the rough, tough, no-bullshit, biker of the Disciples of Havoc, He is the son of the President, and supposedly second, the one who will rightfully inherit the leadership when his father steps down. Supposedly. He is also the best friend of Keyes Dixon (Havoc and Order), these two guys are brothers in every sense of the word. They got each other’s backs always. They are always there for each other. When Keyes fell in love with Alec Pierce, then Assistant District Attorney for Dallas’ District Attorney, he was there for them, to support and cover their backs if necessary.
Cash Ryan (a.k.a Cash Thomas) spent his childhood in the same neighborhood as Dev, Keyes and Shanna Fox. In fact when Cash was attacked and about to be killed, Dev was the one who saved him, suffered stab wounds as well as Cash. They were about 9 or 10 years old then. Cash would have been killed if Dev didn’t intervene while Dev sent Keyes to run for help. From that moment on Cash has been dreaming about Dev and hoped to come back to Dallas to get to know Dev more, as adults. When the opportunity came for a case that involved the motorcycle club opened up, he jumped at the chance. His desire to protect Dev from whatever outcome from the investigation overrode whatever duty he has to perform his job.
Dev’s life is in chaos, well it was never in order in the first place, what with growing inside a one-percenter motorcycle club, but it seems more chaotic now than ever before. He is slowly distancing himself and his two daughters from the kind of life he has grown up in. He wants their lives to be better than his ever was. He wants them to have a normalcy that he didn’t grow up with. His tattoo business has really taken of, so he has started investing on a few properties, two of which are the house where he put his daughters in and an apartment complex where he currently lives. He knows it needs a lot of repair but he’ll get to it. When a new tenant moves in, he felt an instant attraction to him, an unspeakable pull that is surprising because Dev doesn’t take to strangers often or at all.
When Cash moved into the apartment building owned by Dev, the previous bond he had with the biker when they were kids came to the forefront of his mind, really strong. It is still there, strong as ever. What was supposed to be an undercover work to gather intelligence on corruption within the ranks of the government agencies handling the case of the Disciples of Havoc, it became also personal in the fact that the more Cash learned about the adult Dev, the more he is determined to save and protect him, and wishing them to have something more, so much more, for themselves as well. But knowing Dev, he didn’t give them easy. With the help of Shanna, Cash and his team was able to convince Dev to give them or help them get the intel they need to flush out the corrupt in their midst.
The betrayal that Dev felt when Cash and Shanna told him everything (almost everything?) of what was happening inside the club was the kind of hurt that Dev will never likely forget for as long as he lives. Much more so after he learned the files about him as a young child. All his life, he has been abused, used and taken advantage of, by his father, by his brothers and the club that is supposed to be accepting and his own family. He has already been planning to distance himself further, and he had never desired to take over the club leadership, not even an iota. Whether he accepts it or not, what is happening right now with all these undercover things they are doing is something that will ultimately get him out of the club, he just hopes those who deserve it get their due when the time comes.
As this book comes as part of a duet, we still have a lot to look forward to as to how things will ultimately pan out between Dev and Cash and how what they will discover affect them personally in the wrong run.
Kudos Ms. Kindle Alexander, once again you have created an epic love story! I can’t wait for the continuation of this saga, I love Dev and Cash, they are fated to be together!
