Shawn can’t decide whether he wants to punch or kiss Trent. Will kissing win?
The party never ends in Las Vegas, but neither does the danger. Shawn is the new foot patrol officer on the Strip and he’s ready to take on the town and keep the peace. Once he spots hunky firefighter Trent, Shawn wonders whether he can take him on too.
Trent is dedicated to his job, built tough and a no-nonsense man of few words. When Trent eyes a handsome new officer, he doesn’t dare get too close. After his boyfriend’s life was snatched away in the line of fire, he couldn’t bear the agony of such a loss again. Yet how can he keep his hands to himself when it comes to such a sweet and sexy cop?
Once they spend time together away from the stresses of their jobs, they find they’re not only compatible—they’re combustible. However, right as their relationship deepens, the threat of terror escalates on the Strip. The underground vigilante group, the Citizens Against Immorality, have raised the stakes.
Will Shawn and Trent be their next targets?
Note: All Fired Up is the first book in the exciting first responder series, Sin City Uniforms. It was previously published with a different cover under the same title. This edition has been re-edited, but there is no additional content. Triggers include descriptions of death, threats of death and homophobia. You can expect two lonely and brave men trying to figure out this love thing, high heat and a dose of danger.
REVIEW:
Experienced LA cop, Shawn, moved to Vegas for a change of scene. There he runs into Firefighter Trent, and sparks quickly turn into a lust-induced inferno. However, lust a relationship does not make. Especially when events in Trent’s past dictate his actions toward Shawn, and that’s not all. A group against sinners is on the loose in Vegas.
Oh, a story containing a cop and a firefighter – how delicious. I began reading this story quite late in the evening. The opening imagery certainly opened my eyes and made me smile. Some things can only happen in Vegas. What followed was a drama-filled tale of arson, sex, and moving on.
The story is told in the third person from the viewpoints of Trent and Shawn. I loved the descriptions of the surrounding vistas as well as the character descriptions, and I enjoyed the on-the-job drama. I especially loved Shawn’s straight-talking partner Vicki.
Given past events, Trent tends to be domineering, but even when Shawn was considered one of the LA tough guys, he enjoyed being protected. All the same, he recognizes the need to be looked after for the right reasons – want rather than need. The arc surrounding this area was interesting.
A hefty dose of sex is to be expected when sparks fly, and this story doesn’t disappoint. Let’s face it, sex sells, and those scenes are brilliantly written. Nevertheless, as this story’s main protagonists are a cop and a firefighter, and arson is involved, I felt the firemen needed a little more airtime, as any firefighting seemed to be there as backup. I’d have preferred a slightly longer novel to gain a sense of what it was to be a firefighter. We heard the cop encounters, but I wanted to experience what a firefighter goes through, from the adrenaline of bundling into a firetruck, to the near claustrophobia of wearing a mask, and the relief of when it’s all over.
Overall, I found All Fired Up to be an entertaining, well-written, emotional story. Though, my favorite parts were the antics of those on the Vegas strip.
