When he’s on the road during a terrible thunderstorm, gryphon shifter Quint Casteel comes across something completely unexpected. He’s never seen a gryphon like the one illuminated by lightning and soaked by the rain, and when he tries to help the shifter, he ends up with a very bedraggled and beautiful man in his arms.
Max isn’t just a gryphon, he’s a brontegriff, which is a mix of a thunderbird and a gryphon. His thunderbird mother has kept him close to her nest in the deep southwest, but when a hard thunderstorm calls him to ride it, Max ends up near Aspen in Quint’s territory. And in his circle of protection.
Quint knows that Max is meant to be his mate, but will their families agree, or will another kind of storm drive the two of them apart?
REVIEW:
Gryphons and thunderbirds…oh my!
When Quint Casteel, one of the triple Casteel gryphon’s, is heading to Aspen to meet a client at the start of a huge storm he never expected to encounter a brontegriff in need of help but saving the beautiful shifter, that shone of light, is exactly what he must do. Little did he know that saving Max would change his life forever. Mate!
Okay I will admit it. This one took me by complete surprise. Yes, I have discover shifters and have become entranced by them and their magical ways. By never have I even heard of a mythical creature called a gryphon which, it turns out is a mythical creature that is half eagle and half lion. And the add in a brontegriff, which is half gryphon and half thunderbird. Call me clueless but I was lost at least half of this book on who or what these mystical creatures were. And, somehow, elements are part of their traits as well. Like I said, I am clueless but still loved learning about these unique men.
I did love watching Quint fall for the beautiful young man. And it was obvious that Max is head-over-heels in love with his mate Quint. Add in Jon, Quint’s personal assistant , who was a hoot but I still don’t really understand what he is. I know he is some kind of fire-breathing lizard I guess. Then add Roman, the oldest (by mere minutes) and most serious of the triplets and the historian. And next Marc, the fun loving middle brother whom I think really does have a thing for Jon and you have a new family that not only accepts Max as their own family now but love him as their newest, much younger, brother. Something Max had never experienced as an only child.
I am looking forward to each of Roman and Marc’s books and maybe I will understand their shifter dynamics more as the series continues.
