REVIEW:
The Shadow Elite is a spinoff from the Exit Strategy series by Ms. Jocelynn Drake. It follows a group of men who have been together since their army days, worked so well as a group that they decided to go into business on their own when they decided to leave government service.
Edison’s Professor is the third book in the series after Charlie’s Doctor and Kairo’s Billionaire. It features our Big N’ Sexy Edison Walker whose size and strength resonated with Max Sutton while he was on the run in an airport in Greece that further resulted in him trusting a “most valuable and coveted” item to Edison with a message to send it to someone. Then Max was gone, whisked away by some very untrustworthy-looking men into an airplane.
When things got a little straightened-out, that being Kairo’s Mom as the ultimate recipient of said item entrusted to Edison, the whole team flew to Egypt to find a certain Egyptologist who is on the verge of finding a very coveted tomb.
While the team were looking for him, Max was able to escaped (for the second time) his captors and literally ran into Edison and West. They immediately brought Max to their base and Doc Will worked on his wounds (he had a few nasty ones and was dehydrated and malnourished). When the team got the whole story from Max two days after, they started to plan out their moves. If it were up to Edison, he will simply look for the perpetrators and end them all. But he has to think of Max’s wellbeing first and what he was working on, because it will be his legacy.
Although Max has told the team of mercenaries what he was working on, he hasn’t told them all about himself. He wants to find the perfect time to tell them, especially tell Edison. But circumstances didn’t give him the chance. Before he knew it, once again he is on the run, but this time with Edison and the whole team behind him. Running from no other that someone he never thought he’d see again in his life. Add to that the fact that the previous group who kidnapped him is still after him. Now the team has to contend and be ahead of these two groups who want Max’s discovery, what details he could give them so they can rob the tomb and sell the valuables in the black market never to be seen again by the Egyptian government or any museum around the world. I was expecting the appearance of this other nasty person when it was mentioned that she is still around doing what she has always been doing. But I hurt for Max!
We can witness the signature action, banter and camaraderie between family, but also we see the opposite involving Max’s dysfunctional family. I love Max, I hate his family. I love that Edison is all over Max, protecting him, making sure that he does what he needs to do in order to keep his family from his discovery and that it all goes to the proper authorities for safeguarding.
The team is back once again doing what they do best, eliminating bad people, huh! They are so good at it. I love Soren and Alexei, Charlie and Will, Kairo and Izzie and I literally cannot wait for West’s love story next. West deserves all the love!
Congratulations Ms. Jocelynn Drake for once again making us tether on the edge of our seat with the nonstop action in this book. Thank you for having the guys work on something together with Alexei and Soren. Looking forward to the next book.
