The stupidest thing a con artist can ever do is fall for the man who has to catch him…
Nordin likes to think of himself as a modern-day Robin Hood, redistributing the wealth from those who don’t deserve it to those who do. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it makes good use of his talents and gifts.
Unfortunately, not everyone sees it like that, including FBI agent Tavin Donley. Tavin and Nordin met ages ago and from day one, were unable to keep their hands off each other.
Now that Tavin is with the FBI, that’s a problem. He should arrest Nordin, like, yesterday, except he doesn’t. And worse, they can’t stay away from each other, risking both their careers.
When fire burns that hot, someone will get burned…
Nicked is the fourth book in The Foster Brothers series, a contemporary MM romance series about four men who chose to be brothers that can be read as stand alones. It has a hot and steamy instant attraction, two men who can’t keep their hands off each other, a battle for the top, and the sweetest surrender.
REVIEW:
You know those times when you are so eager for a book because the series is so amazing but then you realize that with this book comes the end of getting to hang with those guys? Yeah that’s me right now.
Nordin is the oldest of the Foster brothers. Four men that have made a found family and have their backs no matter what is thrown at them. They have been that way since they joined forces in their group home and that love and respect has continued the rest of their lives. Now in his 30’s, Nordin is still the oldest and the caretaker, making sure his younger brothers find their true loves and not tainted by what he does to support them. After all he learned from the best. He’s literally a chip off the old block. An even better grifter than his old man. At 18 he met his one whether he or Tavin realized it at the time. But circumstances kept them apart for many years with just random meet ups. But those fires burned so bright and strong that soon all other hookups became dim and meaningless until they simply didn’t happen for either man any more. But how can they work when Nordin is a master Grifter/Con man and Tavin chose to go a different route, eventually joining ranks with the FBI as a special agent?
This match had disaster written all over it. A high level con artist and a FBI agent. I had no idea how Nora was going to pull this one off. This is a long, slow burn with moments of sparks so bright and strong they simply take your breath away. I wanted these two to work out even more than they did. It was obvious they were meant for each other from the moment they met when aging out of foster care.
I loved that we got small snippets of their lives and interactions over the years. First it was money and location that kept them apart but soon it was their opposing occupations that drove a wedge between them. But even the danger to each other and their chosen careers couldn’t keep them apart. But each of those scenes we were privy to were a puzzle piece that wove the whole story together and showed who each man really was.
I loved that we got to interact again with each of the brothers and a tiny bit with their mates. Jaren, Hadley and Lagan were all so important to who Nordin was and what drove him in life. Protect his brothers. Avenge those who harmed them as children. And take out evil marks. Those who hoard their wealth without concern for others but only to get richer. Those are the rules Nordin lived by. A modern day Robin Hood.
I did love that the author included a Dutch artist as her focus.. It felt like a wonderful homage to her native country. And such a unique artist he was. Having Nordin using his art degree to further his abilities was a really nice additional puzzle piece in the mystic that made up Nordin the man.
Elated and Sad. That’s what I feel. This book was sooo good and really explained Nordin completely. His need to protect and care for his found brothers was his life’s mission. But his desire and ultimately love for Tavin was what could never release either of them no matter how dangerous for both men they were for each other. But this is the end of a series that I have truly loved and enjoyed. Nora Phoenix is a master wordsmith and the stories she creates hook you so you just keep desiring more. So the answer is yes I loved this wonderful book and riveting series of children overcoming what life through at them to rise and shine with the help of brothers that love you whether you are blood or found. But I am also so sad because I don’t want to leave the Foster brothers and their perfect for them mates.
