BLURB:
Rowe Prince is a lying liar who windmills into my life in full color, claiming to be Sterling Chase, a quirky, eccentric billionaire… and founder of the company I created.
Two can play at the lying game, though, and I’m not about to let some burrito-delivering, floppy-haired virgin from Indiana best me at a game I was born to play.
So I do him one better and pretend to be Sterling Chase’s new assistant. I’ll teach him a lesson that will hopefully wind us both up in bed… with nothing but the truth between us.
But it turns out his shameless lies are enchanting… unintentionally hilarious… and make it all too easy to forget the truth…
Until I learn that this cutie’s intent is to defraud the company I’ve spent years building. I have to choose: risk the company or say goodbye to the man I’m falling for. A guy who just might be…
The Prince of Lies
REVIEW:
Rowe Prince, a burrito delivery man – really, a cross between a Door Dash delivery dude and something akin to a singing telegram guy – is masquerading as eccentric billionaire Sterling Chase at a fancy-pants charity gala. There are all kinds of problems with this scenario, beginning with the fact there is no actual Sterling Chase and the man Rowe is lying to knows that. Rowe lies about as well as a threadbare, bunched up rug on a slippery floor – very, very poorly. Thus begins Prince of Lies, Lucy Lennox’s fabulous, hilarious, and ridiculously fun new opposites attract, fake identity rom-com. It’s a journey of outrageous misadventures intertwined with a sweet love story.
This Not-Sterling person was an angel-faced, sexy-as-fuck, lying liar. And he wasn’t even attempting to be subtle about it.
Bash, a real billionaire, is equal parts horrified, mesmerized, and delighted by Rowe’s pitiful acting skills. He’s inconveniently attracted to him, too, so he plays along with the farce and drags along his brotherhood of best friends/ fellow founders of a highly profitable and successful app development company for the ride. They need to discover who Rowe really is and ascertain his motives.
Lucy’s trademark blend of intriguing storylines, compelling characters, and ridiculous hilarity shine in this novel. Her best romances are infinitely charming and Prince of Lies is no exception; it excels with all those components. Rowe’s bumbling and babbling – and thinking he’s fooling Bash – is highly entertaining. He’s an adorable character. Watching Bash fall in love is heartwarming, particularly since he has no interest in a relationship, especially with the most unlikely man he has ever encountered. Sometimes love follows its own schedule, though.. Rowe’s best friend and cousin, Joey, who takes over Rowe’s job as the Burrito Bandito, and Bash’s cadre – Silas, Dev, Landry, and Zane, and their PA Kenji – are wonderful supporting cast members and all bring even more humor to the book. I can’t wait to see who has the starring role in the next installment.
Lovers of Lucy’s writing will adore this sweet novel. If you’re new to this author, dive right in; you’ll be delighted. This is one of her bests.
