Twilight Heist by Katherine McIntyre
Outlaws, Book 2
Heist rule number two? Never fall for a lone wolf.
A blast from Tuck’s circus past draws Tuck and the charming lone-wolf hacker, Leo, into a dizzying web of passion, secrets, and betrayal.
When the circus comes calling, Tuck is helpless to the lure, and this time, his old troupe’s in trouble. Their attempt to leave Reynauld Industries ended with a hit on them, courtesy of the deadly mercenary group, the Stockyard. Tuck can’t sit idly by, and as the resident stealth operator for the Outlaws, he’s in a unique position to help.
Leo’s a lone wolf hacker, and no amount of his best friend’s pleading, Tuck’s flirty smiles, or interesting jobs will sway him into working with the Outlaws. At least, until they land this one. After growing up in the hellish Stockyard, he’s wanted to take them down for years, and this is the Holy Grail of opportunities. Only problem? The Outlaws can never know about his history with them.
When Leo and Tuck start working together, a chemistry emerges that neither of them can deny. Leo’s mantra of “one and done” falters the moment Tuck shows him a care and steadfastness he’s never experienced before, and the more time they spend with each other, the more he doesn’t want to give up the first man he’s started to fall for. However, if the Outlaws discover his past or the Stockyard finds him first, Leo will end up one of the bloated corpses they’ve left lining the Chicago River.

“What can I get you, Hennings?” he asked.
“Cole, I’ll have another aviation and whatever he’s having,” Tuck said, a curl of possession in his tone and in the sizzling look he directed Leo’s way. Leo’s lips twitched with his grin, and he shifted in his seat. His body had been scorched from the moment his gaze landed on Tuck tonight. The flirty attraction that had zinged between them before was now blaring, like someone had cranked up the volume. Leo wasn’t sure if the intensity was due to his own desperate need for stress release, Tuck riding on a post-heist high, or a combination of the two, but the potency couldn’t be denied.
“Sidecar, thanks,” Leo responded, and the bartender slipped away to go take care of the drinks. Sitting this close to Tuck had his temperature raging, and he slipped out of his blazer, folding it over his arm. He didn’t miss how Tuck’s hungry gaze traced the movements. Leo arched a brow. “Waiting for me to remove the rest?”
Tuck’s grin widened. “I wouldn’t be opposed.”
The clink of ice cubes against glass drew his attention as Cole set their drinks on the smooth hardwood bar in front of them. Leo snagged the orange-and-amber drink in front of him and took a sip, letting the delicate citrus taste wash down his throat.
“How are things going at Torres Industries?” Tuck asked, casting a casual glance at the surface of his drink.
“Oh, you mean the company you lot gutted mere months ago?” Leo responded, his lips quirking in amusement. “Complete restructuring is peachy.”
Tuck lifted a shoulder as he glanced up, those chocolate eyes dark and arresting. “I’d apologize, but I’m not sorry.”
“Nor should you be,” Leo said, taking another sip of his drink. “Those assholes got what they deserved. I’m already casting nets to work elsewhere anyway.” He had options, but the best application of his skills wasn’t at his job—the work he did as Polonius not only kept him entertained but gave him the control he’d been searching for his entire life.
He’d never be helpless again.
An itch crawled under his skin that had been bothering him all week. It was stronger than normal and was the exact reason he’d landed here, chasing a distraction. His knee brushed against Tuck’s since they sat in close proximity, and he caught the whiff of vetiver, the scent sparking his adrenaline.
“How’s your aviation?” Leo asked. A steady thump, thump, thump pulsed under his skin.
“Want a taste?” Tuck asked, lifting the drink in his direction.
Leo’s lips curled.
Caution had a time and a place, and it wasn’t tonight, nor was it here.
He leaned in, closing the distance between them. Leo brushed his lips against Tuck’s, the tip of his tongue slipping out to run along the seam. He could taste the crisp juniper of the gin, could feel those firm lips quirk against his, and pleasure shuddered through him at the contact. Fuck, this man was delicious. He’d wanted him from the moment they met—running on nerves in the middle of planning a heist against the company he worked for. Before Leo could pull away, Tuck’s hand wrapped around his nape, his grip tight enough to turn him on, and the man deepened the kiss.
A rumble came from Tuck’s throat, one that purred through Leo like the rev of a motorcycle. Heat licked through him at the touch that grew firm and demanding with a deliberateness that couldn’t be denied. Each of Tuck’s movements had purpose, and in this case, they were designed to make his knees tremble and his cock hard. Leo melted into the kiss, lapping into Tuck’s mouth as the man drove his tongue in long, languid sweeps that had his arms tingling to the tips of his fingers.
Leo reached between them to grip the flimsy fabric of Tuck’s tee, needing the grounding lest he float away on the heady bliss pumping through his veins at the sensual way this man kissed. If he’d known how sinful his mouth would feel, how tender and commanding his touch would be, there was no way in hell Leo would’ve waited this long for a spin in the sheets.
Tuck slowly pulled away from him, and their breaths puffed through the air, thick and heavy.
