BLURB:
Alexei is lost. On the run from his criminal family, hiding out in Hyde Park, he has no idea what the point or purpose of his life is anymore. Until he’s served coffee by a strange young man, one whom Alexei can’t get out of this head. And when Alexei realizes his favorite barista isn’t quite human after all, his obsession only deepens. Can he use this new knowledge to get even closer to the sweet, strange vampire of his dreams?
Jay is lonely. He has his friends (so nice!) and his job at the coffee shop (so fun!) but he knows he doesn’t really belong in Hyde Park, not for keeps. And yet, he can’t help wanting to pretend, especially with his new favorite regular, a handsome human who smells divine and watches Jay like he really matters. Alexei might just be the nicest thing to happen to Jay since he can remember, even more so when the human generously offers himself up for dinner.
But Jay’s past is complicated, and certain promises have been made. Can he and Alexei weather the storm that tracks him down, or will Jay’s new life be taken away from him before it can really begin?
Johann is a heated, fated-mates MM paranormal romance with an HEA and no cliffhanger. It contains a sweet, cinnamon roll vampire and the stoic, obsessed human who will do anything to stay by his side. It also contains steamy scenes between two men, and the moderate violence (and mentions of blood) that one might expect from a vampire romance. While each book focuses on a different couple, the series is best enjoyed in order.
REVIEW:
Finally! We get sweet little Jay’s story and it’s as sweet and wonderful as he is 💕
Jay appears to have everything he needs. He has his own place now that is perfect. He has made some wonderful friends that invite him each week to family dinner. He has a job he truly enjoys and customers he gets to interact with. He has a boss that even lets him feed on him. But there is one important thing he is missing…someone to be with and hug him when he needs one. Someone like all his friends have. A Mate. But Johann is expected back in his den soon and Jay (Johann) will simply have to bear his destiny. Alexei finally is free from his criminal family but at risk of death if they find him. So hiding out in the little town of Hyde Park is the perfect place. When he starts venturing out he discovers the quaint little coffee shop Death by Coffee and is enamored by the cute, overly sweet barista. When he becomes obsessed with Jay he has to get to know him better. But is the sweet little guy at risk getting to know him…or is he at risk getting to know the alien he can’t get a true read on?
This was truly perfect. Perfect that these two men that lacked any kind of true warmth and love growing up met and fulfilled each other so perfectly. They were literally convinced that they were made for each other. Jay with his constant need of all his love languages being fulfilled and Alexei for finding his one to be able to shower love and attention on. I loved how Jay brought out Alexei’s best human side and Alexei allowed Jay to break loose of Vee’s control even long after her death. He nurtured Jay to discover it was okay to be loved and cared for. It was okay to not be neat as a pin. And it was encouraged to accept the love of his friends.
I love that we get to keep seeing all the other vampires we love. Sweet Danny and his stoic, loving mate Roman. Creepy and inappropriate most of time but loving and super protective Soren and his brat-loving mate Gabe (Danny’s brother). They truly did accept and adopt Jay as one of their own even though he didn’t realize it.
I am so thankful I took a chance on this series. I have grown invested in all of these wonderful and loving vampires. They are ever so watchful of their found family and would do anything to protect them and their mates. I can’t wait for Wolfe and Dr. Monroe’s story. This is bound to be a doozy! And I really hope we get a treat someday soon of all of the vampires going camping together…orgy or not! Lol
