They walked down the corridor into the photographer’s loft studio. Daniel French had achieved legendary status in fashion circles. Charles had been astounded when Meera had announced she had commissioned him to do the promo shots. It suggested a different approach from other teams. He quite liked this—it seemed fitting as Charles had a completely different mindset from when he’d raced with other teams.
“Charlie boy,” Daniel shouted.
Instantly, Charles recoiled. He and Daniel had moved in similar circles over the years. Daniel always had a different model on his arm, and he’d seen Charles as something of a kindred spirit. “Hello, Daniel,” he replied.
He glanced nervously at Luis, who regarded him with interest. Luis did not have a reputation of enjoying the high life. He would race, then disappear to his hotel room. Charles couldn’t remember ever seeing him at a dinner function.
“All right,” Daniel said, clapping his hands together. “Let’s take Luis first, then Charles. We’ll do the crappy promo shit first then I thought we’d go a bit off piste with some buddy shots. How does that sound?”
Luis smirked at Charles. “You reckon we can be buddies?”
“It’s just a matter of time,” Charles replied with a wink.
