BLURB:
Samuel has one goal in life: fix his broken core.
What does he not want? A bossy, overprotective, possessive, teasing dragon sticking his nose in business that is not his.
Even if he is sexy. And supports Samuel on his quest to find the lost Sousa Mage Clan.
Utterly beside the point. He does not need a dragon boyfriend.
(Un)fortunately, Dimitri disagrees.
REVIEW:
This new series is a spinoff of the Scales ‘N’ Spells series in which we meet our Fire Dragons and their Mages. In the previous series we met the Burkhard Clan/Fire Dragons and their counterparts from Brazil, the Ice Dragons/Valerii Clan led by King Rodrigo. Whereas the Scales ‘N’ Spells focused on the Burkhard Clan, Wings ‘N’ Wands will focus on the Valerii Clan.
In this first book of the series, we have the story of Dimitri and Samuel. Dimitri is one of the trusted Ice Dragon of King Rodrigo who also happens to head the tour/guide business of the clan. When he met Dr. Samuel Hunter on the streets of one of the less-favorable areas in Rio where Samuel was being conned by a creature posing as a teenager, there was instant attraction from his end. But not in the case of Sam, or so Sam thought.
Dr. Samuel Hunter, Archaeologist, always thought there was something broken in him. He comes from a Mage clan but his core is broken. His twin, Salem, inherited all the Mage genes from both sides of the family. Which is precisely the reason behind this quest he has set himself onto, he is looking for the Sousa Mage Clan, prove their existence (still) and maybe along the way find a cure for his broken core. Like all other Mages, he longs to find his mate, his Dragon. He wants to be whole.
When Sam met the King and several members of the clan, he began to understand a lot of the things that he just read about before. He learned new things about the Dragons and this clan in particular. And the more time he spent with Dimitri, he begins to hope (which he tries not to do at all) that maybe, maybe he is not totally broken after all. And that maybe this attraction between him and Dimitri might be more than a hookup. Dimitri is sweet, protective and just an overall good guy/Dragon until someone tries to harm Sam, then he turns all growly and scary.
We can see the tour guides (Dimitri, Gregori, Vasily and Luka) guiding and protecting Samuel as he continues on his quest (alone because his boyfriend dumped him before their scheduled departure) to find the lost Mage clan who were healers. We will witness renewed shenanigans between the Dragons. We will find out more about Ha Na and King Rodrigo and a little about some of the Mages who started with the Burkhard Clan but are now with the Valerii Clan.
As a whole, it is a great book to start off a new and (I’m sure) exciting series of Dragons and Mages. Looking forward to the next book Ms. AJ Sherwood and Ms. Jocelynn Drake.
