As some of you probably know, I don’t have a dog. I love them, but my husband Dominic is very allergic to them, so we just can’t have one. To make up for it, I get to know all of our friends dogs. A few doors down from us is Lightning. She’s a big, happy full sized little girl with a ton of energy. She loves to run and play.
There’s cockapoo Poppy next door to her. Lightning and Poppy are best friends. Poppy is wonderful and very well behaved, except she picks up bad habits from Lightning sometimes. She and her daddy often go on walks and she’s a perfect angel, until she sees me and then she gets all excited. She makes me so happy.
These are just a few of the local dogs that I see on a regular basis. There are lots more. And the things is that I put all of these dogs, and tons more into the Must Love Dogs stories. Rudolph is based on a friends dog Zach… one of the dogs in Rescue Me is based on Elsa, a friends boxer. (She’s gone over the rainbow bridge now.)
And finally I have to mention Sasha. She is a huge, and I mean huge, standard schnauzer who thinks she’s a lap dog. (She is nearly a hundred pounds and tries to sit in my lap. I love them all and the Must Love Dogs stories are my way to expressing just how much man’s best friend means to this particular person.

Everyone needs to be rescued sometimes.
As a vet tech, Daniel is usually first in line to come to animals’ aid. When he and his boss get a call about an animal hoarding situation, they expect the handful of badly treated dogs… but the tiger comes as a surprise.
Wes recently left his job to care for his sick mother. Now that she’s on the mend, he needs work, and he finds it at a bustling shelter. But the animals aren’t the only ones in need. His kind, chatty coworker Daniel is dealing with an abusive boyfriend—something Wes, whose father was an alcoholic, has experience handling. Wes steps up to help Daniel kick his boyfriend to the curb, but in the process, he finds himself falling for Daniel himself.
Navigating a new relationship when they both have traumatic pasts is one thing. But when a shady group starts targeting the tiger they are trying to find a zoo placement for, the stakes are raised even higher. Can Wes and Daniel come together to rescue the animals—and each other?
